Dreaming Of You Is Even Harder When We're Apart

When Kylo Ren dreams, he dreams of dirt brown hair and gold rimmed eyes. They haunt him while he wakes and while he dreams. They follow him and he follows them like some sick game of tag. Always ready for his mystery girl to come along and sweep him away. When he grows older, they all but continue to haunt him. He's been told to ignore them now, and so he does his best. Yet the more he tries the more this female enraptures him in her embrace and leads him to his death. Pulling him and pulling him until he falls into the cliff that overlooks a sea of white. They fall and fall until she closes her eyes and looks like she's laughing and doesn't mind the height. Even though he has never seen her fully he can always feel her. Feel her smile, or her stare. He knows so thoroughly that she does this. She is made of light and every time his dark hand reaches hers, light runs through him as he watches her smile with bright teeth that he wants to stare at forever. Then they fall and they fall together never losing their grip on the other. They fall backwards into the light and it feels right. It feels peaceful like there is no war and there are no troubles. There are only the two of them holding on till they hit the ground. Then he wakes up in a cold sweat and curses having dreams in the first place.

Then, he hears of a girl. The very mention of this girl sends the same feeling towards him. The one from his dreams that drives him from the very thing he needs. He barley sleeps now, the dreams have only begun to feel more real and hurt more and more as he falls.

As Kylo Ren chases his dreams, the feeling grows stronger. He wants this girl that he follows in the forest of this desolate waste of a planet. Wants to study her every move. Take time to memorize the very things about her that he knows so well from his dream.

They fight a lot, he realizes. Clashing back and forth. It only drives him forward. He only wants to grow to see her more. To learn about everything she knows. He wants to know how she ticks. He wants to learn everything about her. Then they can find their cliff and fall till their problems can find them no longer.

When Rey dreams, she dreams of a creature in a mask and a man with a metal hand. It's dark and stormy and there are so many things around her that she can never make out. She watches the man with the robot and sees it almost painfully break down under his hand. When she reopens her eyes the fall of rain is heavy on her chest. Then there's a man drawing his weapon to strike her down. She always looks away but she can feel it. She can see it beneath her eyes. The red glow of energy and when she does look up, the same creature in a mask. The creature is illuminated by the lightning and is surrounded by others. The creature might save her life, but she is never comforted by this. Rey can feel dark radiating off of the hooded figure. It's not a dream she has very often. It arrives every day on the same year. This... nightmare that she has. It stirs unpleasant feelings in her and always sets her uneasy for the next few days.

When Rey sees him for the first time she assumes shes dreaming. The contact with the thing that she shouldn't have touched was till in her mind. 'He came for you' her brain screams it out until all she wants is for him to be gone. Running far and fast never really seems to get her anywhere. The creature eventually does catch up to her. The same red glow from her dreams finds it's way to her once shes frozen and it doesn't feel like a dream anymore.

Rey realizes that Kylo Ren is a scared and she has taken that and ran. The information is useful. She saw his struggles and his hardships, what he fears and what he hates. He's like a puzzle she has long since solved.

So she thinks upon her dreams and wonders what they mean. It comes more often then it used to. The battle field looking more grey, lighter. Kylo Ren no longer looking as menacing as he once did. She was stronger, better, and he saves her life. She no longer finds fear when she dreams this dream, but comfort. He no longer scares her, and she wants to know why.

They do find each other eventually. They settle down somewhere in the cosmos, and never look back on the life they left behind. The war they can never solve still rages on. They both dream of better things now. They dream of holding the other surrounded by the very light that changed them both. 

Eventually they dream of even better things. Finding a small one has come to join them in their light. 

Eventually they dream of sad things. Finding their child to be sick and not survive it's first winter.

Eventually they dream of something bittersweet. Finding another child has joined their last one in their dreams.

Eventually they dream of something proud. Finding their child making the right choices, unlike his father.

Eventually they dream of death. Finding out ruined the small outing with friends.

Eventually he dreams and hopes to never stop. Finding his comfort only in dreaming of the lover he has never had to live without.

And eventually they dream no more.
