They don't need as much oxygen as we do. In fact, they can absorb it from the water when they brumate in the winter. (Turtle hibernation. Yes. They do that.)
While wild turtles may be nocturnal, those kept as pets sleep during the night since we are active during the day.

Normally he sleeps on his bridge, but I guess he was too tired and slept in a funny position.

He's doing the turtle begging dance. He got so excited he pooped...
Uh... This is a gross fact. But it's totally normal.
Turtles do eat their poop. Mainly for the missing nutrients. So if you see your turtle doing that... don't panic. It's completely normal. But gross.
Anyways, it's feeding day, so he will keep splashing and following me until he gets food. Lol
As I type this, he keeps swimming in circles hopping some food would appear.
