Maddie's P.O.V.

It's February twentieth, my birthday would've been in nine days, but my birthday won't exist until 2016.

I remember six days ago, on Valentine's Day, Julian had asked me out on a date. An actual date.

We were at lunch, saddened by Chris's disappearance. We missed her so much, but all we could do is wish for the best, that she gets better. To become the rebellious teen that I have come to know.

He mentioned that it was Valentine's Day, which I had already knew, which was why I wore a pink dress. He complimented me on my dress, telling me I looked beautiful even though I didn't really think so.

“How come you aren't eating you lunch?” he asked with concern in his voice.

“Not that hungry,” I said, twirling my noodles around with my fork.

“You gotta eat something.”

“I will when I get home.” I sighed.

We had sat there for a few moments in silence, Julian was actually eating his food.

When he finished and threw his tray away, he had asked me if I had plans.

“No, why?” I ask.

“It's Valentine's Day, everyone has a Valentine.”

“I don't.”

“You're the prettiest girl in this whole school! I'd be surprised if no one asked you out.” he said, which caused me to smile.

“I'm not that pretty, many people think so.”

“Don't listen to those girls,” he said. “There's going to be people who want to kill you, kiss you or want to be you. I would want to do the second one.” he flashed this goofy smile. It's contagious because it made me smile. “There's that gorgeous smile.”

“Stop it!” I giggled.

“I'm just being honest. . . ” he said. “Would you be my Valentine?”

I smiled so wide, it was ridiculous. Me and him were prone to goofy smiles.

“Of course,” I said that day.

“Good. Would you like to--” the bell had cut him off. The cafeteria had gotten loud and unfortunately we had to go our separate ways. We hugged for a long time. I was almost late to class, but it was worth it.

Later that day, we video chatted and he finished what he wanted to ask me, and of course I said yes.

We're at the airport now, impatiently waiting for the two lovebirds to show up.

We've been here for a little while, and when I saw Jen walking towards us, I couldn't contain my excitement. It took over me. I ran to her because she was taking her sweet time getting to us. And she was lugging her suitcases around with one hand, and holding Josh's hand in the other. Her hair wasn't dark brown anymore, it was blonde. And Josh dyed his hair back to brown.

When I hug her, I nearly knock her down from the impact.

“I missed you!” was the first thing she told me ever since she got back from Hawaii.

“I missed you too!” I smile. I look behind me and notice her parents walking towards us.

“Hey Josh,” I give him a hug. “You treated her right. . .right?”

“Of course.”

“So. . . everything is good between the two of you?” I ask.

“Yes.” Jen smiled.
