"Five, four, three, two, one! Happy New Year!" We all shouted as 2012 finally came to an end.
It's been one interesting year, don't get me wrong. I've struggled, like everyone else but in different ways.
I'm still not used to calling Jen, "Mom" because I loved my real mom, more than you can ever imagine. But Jen saved me, and it's the least I can do.
I remember when she told me the news, about her and Josh getting together, I was shocked, then happy for her, then I realized that I owe Gemma twenty bucks.
I found it out the hard way, actually. As soon as the countdown finished, and we shouted "Happy New Year!" the two of them kissed and I was standing there like, "What the heck is going on?"
When they saw my reaction, they realized that they didn't tell me, and so they did.
The story was really sweet, and I "awwed," at the right moments, I just hope they'll stay together forever. But no relationship is perfect. It has it's ups and downs, but if it's true love, it'll last. And I hope it does.
Josh spent the night with us, but don't worry, I made sure he slept on the couch.
He didn't want to at first, but he wanted me to be happy.
***
The next morning, Jen woke up all happy and pretty and not cranky at all.
She's pretty all the time, it's just that her hair is messy and not to mention that morning breath.
She was also in a good mood. I'm not completely sure that she's a morning person, but she was a lot happier than usual.
"Good morning," she said, coming into my room and waking me up.
I rubbed my eyes and yawned since I was still tired, we all went to bed late last night.
I checked the clock, "It's nine thirty, why are awake so early?"
"It's never too early to eat, I'm going to make breakfast. Pancakes sound good?"
I mumbled an "Okay," and laid back down. I'm not sure if I'm a morning person.
I stayed there for a few minutes, then got into the shower thinking that it'll wake me up.
***
It did, now I'm not so grumpy anymore.
I slowly walked downstairs, a little afraid to see what I might witness. I peeked from the top of the stairs.
After all, they are a couple, and Jen has been acting all lovey-dovey around him. I think it's adorable, as long as it doesn't get out of hand.
Luckily, Jen was making pancakes like she said she would and I saw Josh walked in quietly, giving her a hug from behind. I silently "awwed," because they really are adorable together.
It startled her a bit. But she smiled and laughed and they were talking, but I couldn't hear what they're saying.
I watched for a few more minutes, then walked down the rest of the stairs.
I didn't want to ruin their little moment, so I sat on the couch, (not the one Josh slept on, we have more than one) and turned on the TV.
Good Morning America was on, and it seems like a good show.
I watched that for a few minutes and then the two love birds finally noticed that I was there.
"You're awake!" Jen cheered.
"I've been here for a little while," I say.
"Okay. Pancakes are ready! Josh, can you get the orange juice?"
He kissed her on the cheek, then happily got the juice.
***
Breakfast tasted really good, she made blueberry pancakes this time.
After we ate, Josh went home because me and Jen are supposed to have a "Mother-Daughter" day or something.
I was just now hearing about this, but Jen is leaving for work soon, so I'd like to spend as much time with her as I can. She can be with Josh later.
Once he left, the house was quiet. "So, what do you want to do today?" she happily asked me.
"I don't know, what do you want to do today?"
"I was thinking we could go somewhere so you can get your hair done."
"Getting my hair done?"
"Yeah, they'll fix you up and make you look pretty. Not saying that you're not pretty, because you are."
"I get it." I look at my hair and it's getting long. A little too long. It's already down to my hips.
"So you're ready?" she said. I nodded.
"Okay, I'm going to shower, you stay here."
I sat back down on the couch and changed the channel.
They were talking about Claudia, saying that she's out of the hospital. And the fact that they broke up. I can't believe they're just now finding out about this. A lot can happen behind closed doors.
***
"Welcome! I'm here to make you look fabulous!" a woman with dyed red hair greeted us at the door of the hair salon. "I'm a big fan of your work by the way."
"Thank you!" Jen smiled.
"My name is Tessa, come with me." she said and I followed her. Jen stayed sitting down, reading a magazine.
"Sit here," she said, referring to a black salon chair.
"Okay, what would you like me to do?"
"I don't know much about hair..." I look at my hair, it's already almost at my hips.
"I was thinking about a trim at least."
I thought about it, then told her that I wanted to dye my hair brown.
"I'll make you look gorgeous! I was thinking maybe we cut it up to the middle of your back." she says with scissors in her hands.
"Sounds good." I sit back and try to relax, waiting for the outcome.
***
Tessa turned me around and I gasped at what I saw.
"I love it! Thank you!" I smile.
"It was no problem at all. You had a lot of hair, but I did it. Ready to show your mom?"
I nodded my head.
I think Jen loved it too because she kept saying that I looked beautiful.
"Thank you so much." Jen said.
She went to go pay for the bill, and I stood there and watched.
"Want to get some lunch?" Jen asked once she paid.
"Sounds good." I smile.
