Thoughts on So Yummy

I'm uploading some chapters today to get a head start on my 150 chapters in 3 months.

Do you ever love a book/film/TV series/YouTube channel, but when you hear criticism of it, you start to question whether it really was good?

That's how I feel about a YouTube channel called So Yummy. I knew it had its faults, but I ignored them as I watched them make the best looking cookie cake I've seen in my life. But a few days ago I came across another baking channel. I can't remember the name of the channel, but they tested out So Yummy's hacks and recipes. The results were suprising.

I knew So Yummy were guilty of repeating recipes and adding on irrelevant recipes to extend the video length, but when the channel showed how fake some of So Yummy's hacks were, I was disappointed. Yes, the channel had its faults, but I didn't know they would be so fake.

The only hack I can remember she exposed was this: it was basically a hack where you put some crushed basil leaves into a small bowl, microwave them for about a minute and a half, and they came out as dried basil.

Well, that's what it showed on So Yummy's video.

When this channel tried it, she did exactly what they said, but the leaves just came out mushy and disgusting. She put them in the microwave again, but still no difference. Then she got some actual dried basil, and compared how her packaged dried basil and the hack basil looked. Then she compared her packaged basil and So Yummy's 'dried' basil, and it's obvious what they did.

They put the leaves into the microwave, took them out, put packaged dried basil in and edited it.

I didn't know what I expected really. But I am disappointed. Some of their recipes looked amazing and I wanted to try them, but yeah. I don't think they're going to work out as well as I wanted based on the exposing video.

Has anybody else ever felt this way?
