Today's verse: Matthew 5:47
NIV: And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
NCV: And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than other people. Even those who don't know God are nice to their friends.
Meaning: As Christians, we all strive to be different from the mainstream world. We want to be able to love everyone and show people God through our actions. Everyone has friends/family members that they love so greatly, and that's good! But, the Christian lifestyle is more than just loving your friends or the people who love you. Like the verse says, even people who don't know God love there friends! You gotta take it a step further and love EVERYONE. Even people who have done you wrong deserve a second chance, show them love! So just as God had given each of us a second chance by dying on the cross, give everyone a second chance and just love them. It's the least you could do! Strive to be that Christian that has people saying " wow he/she really loves God, I want to be like that." It won't always be easy, nothing about being a Christian is easy but it's something we can all work towards.
Take action: I challenge you all to take this challenge this week. Grab a piece of paper and a pen, write down the top 5 or 10 people who have hurt/ wronged you. Think deeply about what they have done. Then think about all the things we have done that God has forgiven us for! Crumple your paper and rip or toss it in the garbage. This symbolizes you forgiving. Now, go out and love those people. Now that you have forgiven go show them Gods love! Send them a text, wave at them, smile at them, anything! Just show them love! I'm going to try out this challenge this week, so join me! It's something I personally struggle with. Like I said, the Christian life will never be easy, it's just something you have to preserve and work through!
