Overprotective Mate

+Y/N and Raphael have been together for a while. But things of late have been tense between the two due to Raphael's overprotectiveness. It ends with the two splitting and Y/N leaving. After months of being apart, Raph sees her at the Institute while there for a meeting. Not only does he notice that she is quite close to Jace but something else catches his eye, a slight bump of a stomach. He gets the wrong idea and more fighting ensues.

Y/N's POV

"Raphael?" I walked up behind said man.

"Yes darling?" He didn't even look at me. He continued to read. 

"Care to share why you told Jeremy I was not allowed to go out for, oh I don't know, anywhere!?" I was livid. "You have don't have that power."

"I just don't want you hurt. It can be dangerous." 

"I know that. But I can take care of myself. Raphael, look at me." He turned toward me, finally looking away from the book. "Why are you so over protective lately." 

"Y/N..." He got up and walked over. "I will not have my mate going out on unnecessary outings." 

"That's not for you to decide. My life isn't under you control." I growled. "You are not the Raphael I used to know."

"Well I'm sorry for this so called..."

"We're through." I said interrupting him. He went wide eyed. 

"What?"

"I can't stand this anymore. You're different. And not a good different. I'm leaving. We're done."

"No you're not!" He suddenly yelled.

"Watch me." I ran out before he could react. I ran across the city. I was nearly steaming at the ears I pulled out my phone and called Magnus.

"Hello my Sweet."

"Can I come to yours?" I asked.

"Of course, sweet. What is wrong?" I hung up and went to his. He opened the door to me with a concerned look.

"We broke up." He just pulled me in and hugged me.

"It's alright honey."

"I can't stay long because he'll know I'm here and I don't want to see him." He sat across from me with a thinking face.

"I can see if you can stay at the Institute. You were a huge help when it came to helping the Shadowhunters. Let me call Alec."

"Thank you Magnus." He smiled and walked away.

"Oh and by the way. Sweet, it would seem you and pregnant."

*Time Skip*

I was sitting in a lounge in the Institute. I was sitting there with my eyes closed. I was absentmindedly rubbing my slight baby bump.

"Hey there." A soft toned voice came from behind me. Jace sat next to me. "How you doing?"

"I'm fine Jace. I'm not extremely far along. No worries." 

"Can't help it." He rubbed the back of my shoulders. "Plus I think  Magnus, Izzy, and Clary would murder me if you got hurt." I rolled my eyes and groaned.

"I'm not glass." He just laughed. "What else are you here for?"

"Well I'm came to tell you that there is going to be a meeting with the vampires. Raphael will be there."

"That's fine. I'll just stay in my room."

*Later that Day*

I was standing with the rest in the front room when a group of vampires came in. I saw Raphael and turned away.

Raphael's POV

I walked into that dreaded Institute for a meeting. I was met by Alec. He lead me and the rest of the vampires with me to some room. A familiar scent caught my attention and I turned to look. Y/N was standing there with a baby bump.

"What?" I whispered. Stopping, I continued to watch her. She smiled then leaned in to kiss Jace on the cheek. I growled and turned away and into the room. After the stupid meeting was over, I slipped out quick to find Y/N.

"Raphael!" I ignored and ran around until I saw her. I quickly and gently grabbed her by the arm pulling her into a empty room. 

"Hey! What do you...Raphael!" She screamed.

"What is wrong with you!" I yelled.

"What are you talking about?"

" I finally see why you wanted to break up so bad! To run to him."

"What? Who?"

"Hell, you even got pregnant by the guys!" I turned around and paced.

"What the hell! You grab me, drag me into this room only to yell at me! Who the hell is he?" She screamed.

"Jace! I should have seen it before! You guys always flirted around."

"What?" 

"A shadowhunter? Really?"

"Raphael?!"

"Now you pregnant with his kid! That's just..." 

"The baby is yours you imbecile!" She screamed. I looked at her wide-eyed.

Y/N's POV

He went silent and stared at me with wide eyes. We were both breathing heavy. My hands were  shaking and my emotions running high.

"Mine?"  He whispered.

"Yes. Yours Raph. Jace is just a good friend. Nothing more." I looked down, wrapping my arms around myself. I suddenly heard him laugh.

"That would explain me being over protective." I looked up.

"Really?" 

"Yes." He walked up and wrapped his arms around me. "Vampire pregnancy is very rare. And when it does happen, the male mate gets very protective. Even before they know the other is pregnant."

"Oh." I laid my head in his chest. "Can we just forget that night?"

"No. Because it only made us stronger." I looked up and smiled. We kissed and everything felt normal.

*Skip to After Birth*

I was lying in bed while everyone was standing in the room, fussing over the baby. Currently, Simon was holding the baby. While he was cooing over him, I saw Raph in the doorway.

"Be careful with my son, Daylighter." Raph walks over as Simon turned toward him.

"Raph he is fine. I trust Simon. Relax a little." H looks at me. "Please?" His shoulders drop.

"Okay." 

"Good choice, Raphael."  Jace smirked at him then me.

"I won't hesitate to kick you out, Shadow Prancer." I giggled and rolled my eyes.

"I'm surrounded by children but only one child." Everyone laughed at my statement. "But it's worth it." I thought to myself.
