Y/N's POV

I was training with Izzy and Clary with Alec, Jace, and Maryse watching on the side. It was Izzy and Clary against me. I easily took Clary down and focused on Izzy.

"Come on Clary! You can do better than that!" I joked around. I heard Izzy laugh as she striked at me.

"If your not careful, you'll be next Y/N!" Izzy jokes as she hits me off my feet. I recovered quickly and did the same as her but pinned her down with a knife to her neck.

"Are you sure?" We both laughed and got up.

"Alright, alright you win. How about we go..."

"Not just yet Isabelle. There's a disturbance you 4 need to look into." Maryse cut Izzy off. We all agreed and Clary went home. As I went to change Maryse stopped me. "Y/N. Just a moment."

"Okay." I stayed back and noticed Jace stop too. "What's up?"

"You need to lose your attitude." She said straight off.

"What?"

"You need to lose your carefree attitude and take your roll more seriously. You'll get killed or someone else killed." She criticized me. "If you don't shape up, I'll have you shipped back to Idris."

"What? You can't."

"Oh yes I can and I will if I have too." She walked away. I looked to Jace in disbelief. He gave me a blank look and walked away too.

*Time Skip*

We were out on the patrol and found nothing.

"What disturbance? There's nothing going on." Alec said.

"Yeah. No kidding." I joked. I moved away toward an abandoned building. I saw that the boards on the door were slightly moved. "Hmm." Before I could rwact, the window shattered and I was tackled.

"Y/N!" I heard all of them call. I couldn't tell what attacked me but it was banging me up bad. I could feel blood running down my chest and arms. The beast was thrown off me and I back up tight against the wall.

"Hey, hey. Y/N look at me." Jace came into view. I started to hyperventilate. "Hey calm down babe." He pulled me into his arms. I was able to calm down a bit as he kissed my head in comfort.

*Another Time Skip*

We made it back to the Institute and the first thing I saw Maryse with a major glare. She was standing off to the side. Jace pulled my gear from me and went to put them away. In that time, Maryse came over to me

"What did I tell you..."

"You know what Maryse? I don't care what you think! You can't control everything about me. I'm not a puppet. There is going to be things you don't like about me and your going to have to deal with them. Do I gotta to be you just to please you?" She looked taken back with my angry outburst. I didn't wait for her response as I took off for my room. I entered my room and just stood there.

"Y/N?" I heard Jace through the door. I sighed and opened it. He had a stern look.

"What Jace?" He came into the room.

"What was that? With Maryse?" He didn't look happy as he crossed his arms.

"I was tired of her criticizing. And I was going to tell her that. You heard what she said."

"Yes but yelling at her like that was disrespectful." He explained. "Maybe she was right about your attitude."

"Are you serious? I can't believe you. I know your close with her but what she said was low. I understand being careful and the importance of being a Shadowhunter but you know what else there is to that?"

"What?"

"The human part. Yes were angels but we're also half human. I shout, I swear, I get angry, I get scared. I fall, I break, I mess up....I make mistakes. But if you can't take me at my worst....You don't deserve me at my best.." He was silent. I sighed again. "You know what Jace, just get out. I need to be alone."

"Y/N.." I just looked away. He walked out reluctantly. I moved to my bed, sat down, and put my head in my hands.

Some time later there was a soft knock on my door. I sat up from my position on my bed.

"Who is it?"

"It's Jace." I didn't answer. "I know your mad at me but can I come in?"

"Yeah." I said softly. He came in and sat down next to me.

"Before you say anything, I want to say something. Life is about making mistakes. And it's also about trying to be great. I understand that now." He admitted. "I know you get fed up, you fall, get up. It's all in us. Some of us are just to blind to see that."

"I've been waiting for a moment, shed a lot of tears. Just to smile in the morning." I admitted. He moved to sit next to me on the bed. He pulled me closer.

"I understand that now." He kissed my head. "Gotta keep it going..."

"Gotta keep my head up." He smiled at me and then kissed me.

"That's my girl." He laid down then pulled me down. I laughed and just relaxed.

This took a bit to do because this is the first song imagine I have ever done. I hope it is okay. I very much enjoyed the challenge of writing this.
