So the LGBTQ+ community is a growing group that has taken the spotlight when it comes to having the same rights as everyone else. And seeing how many people use their religions as a way to be complete dicks, it's understandable to see why many are afraid to even explore the idea of being gay or bisexual.
What most people don't know is that there are important figures in mythology around the world that feature figures that falls into the LGBTQ+ community. I keep saying LGBTQ+ because let's be honest, there are way too many sexualities to name and it's confusing because I'm pretty sure some are the same but I'm told they're not so..
Plus most cultures, before Europeans came in with Christianity and ruined shit for everyone else, don't really have a concept of homosexuality. In most cases it was... well... embraced. In Ancient Greek, Roman, and some Asian cultures they encouraged comrades to do the deed to promote masculinity and camaraderie. Because nothing is manlier that two dudes. Most native cultures didn't care, as long as there was no incest. A handful of prominent figures to a myth were often transgender, genderfluid, or had no specifically named gender.
So I'm going to be talking about some of my favorite LGBTQ+ mythological figures in June. Feel free to request anyone or anything .
