The Guédé are a family of loas associated with death and fertility. The loas they associate the most with are Baron La Croix (Baron The Cross) - guardian of the gravestone, and Baron Cimetière (Baron Cemetery) - guardian of the grave. Depending on the tradition followed, Baron is:
1)one of the Guédé
2)their spiritual protector, who has raised them from the dead with the help of Baron Samedi's wife, Maman Brigitte.
3)An aspect of the Guédé gods.
So this is just a family of death. They also control the grave and cemetery, so be careful when you trespass.
Papa Gheda
He is the corpse of the first man and is described as a short, dark man with a high hat. He's a psychopomp who waits at the crossroads to take souls to the afterlife. He's consider the good counterpart to Baron Samedi. Mostly due to the fact that he prays to protect children because he doesn't believe in taking someone before their time. He can also read minds and tell what's going on in the realm of both the living and the dead....creepy
Brave Ghede
He's the guardian of graveyards. He hangs out with Baron Cimetiere.
Ghede Bábáco
He is Papa Ghede's brother, though it's not stated whether he's the older brother or the younger brother. He doesn't really have any powers.
Ghede Nibo
Acts as a intermediary of the living and dead.He was the first murdered. He's patron to those who die by unnatrual causes( murder, disaster, accidents, misadventure). he guard those who died prematurely. He also got some pet horse ( that are actually souls of the dead) that act as the voices of those whose body has not reclaimed from " under the water". Don't ask me what that means, I'm pretty sure it has to do with unburied bodies.
Baron Kriminel
Th Baron of Criminals...Haitians have a very unique alphabet, please bare with me. He is the enforcer of the Guede. Now he was the first murderer, possibly Nibo...work must be very awkward for them. Now he controls those who murder and/or used violence to harm others . Families of the victim would pray to him to get revenge on those who wronged him. He also has pet horses that will eat people unless you feed them .
Grandma Brigitte
She's Baron Samedi's wife. She's also synced with St. Brigit of the Catholic faith. Mostly due to the fact that they are both patrons of the cross and gravestones.
The Divine Twins
They're both gravediggers. They are in both the world of the living and dead. Twins are seen as having divine insight and vision, and they wear contrasting colors.
Ghede Masaka
Described as either an androgynous or transgender man. His most recognized by his black shirt, white jacket, and white headscarf.
Ghede Oussou
He wears a jacket that is either black or mauve, with a white cross on the back and a mauve scarf. His nickname is "tipsy" because he really likes white rum.
This is one family that you never want to mess with.
