You couldn't see anything. The blindfold blocked all your vision and you walked almost blindly, if it weren't for the hand that was leading you along. You felt around you, trying to find out where you were. A door was opened and you were led inside. Your hand was released when you stopped at a certain spot. You heard some whisperings and smiled. The blindfold was taken off and you could see but you wouldn't have to see to know what was happening.
"Surprise!" Everyone cheered.
All of your friends were here. Greg, Molly, John, surprisingly Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, Sherlock and so on. You smiled brightly and laughed. John came around behind you and put a party hat on your head so that you'd match everyone else.
"Happy Birthday, y/n." John said.
"Thank you."
You received a bunch of 'Happy Birthday's' and such things like that. You finally got away from everyone and got to Sherlock.
"Happy Birthday." He said, avoiding eye contact with you.
"Thank you Sherlock." You said.
Silence then came over the both of you. You cleared your throat awkwardly and looked up at Sherlock.
"So, did you help with setting any of this up?" You asked.
"Uh, well, a little bit." He admitted.
"Oh! Well I think it's great!" You said.
"You really think so?" He asked.
"Mhmm. I especially like the party hats." You said tapping yours.
"That was John's idea." Sherlock said.
You both laughed and then locked eyes. It seemed as though time stopped and everyone else in the world didn't exist. It was just you and Sherlock. No one to bother you. No one to stop this moment from happening. Well, no one except for him.
He broke eye contact and looked at the ground awkwardly. He then mumbled something you couldn't quite make out and then walked away. You felt upset, but brushed it aside. You wouldn't ruin your birthday because of Sherlock. You opened presents and had cake. You even got some cake smashed on your face, just for the fun of it. The day seemed to last forever but of course it had to come to an end at some point. The guests all left and soon it was just you, John, and Sherlock."I'm gonna go to bed." John said. "Good night, and happy birthday again." He said to you.
"Good night." You said as he walked to his room.
Now it was just you and Sherlock.
"Did you enjoy the party?" Sherlock asked, breaking the silence.
You shrugged, "Yeah. It was fun." You said not looking at him.
"Have you made any wishes today?" He asked.
You nodded, "I made one. But I don't think it will happen." You said.
"What is it?" He asked.
You shook your head, a smile planted on your lips, "I can't tell you." You said.
"I'm sure I'll figure it out." He challenged.
"I'm surprised you haven't figured it out by now." You said.
That's when you visibly saw the lightbulb go off in his head. Maybe it was your words or maybe he just deduced it. Or maybe it was because the two of you were standing three inches apart from each other.
"You're wrong, you know." He said.
"About what?" You asked confused.
"Your wish will come true."
And with that, he leaned down and his lips touched yours. You kissed back and wrapped your arms around him. When you pulled away you looked into his eyes.
"Does that make up for not getting you a birthday present?" Sherlock asked.
You laughed, "That was the best gift I could ever get."
