You sat behind the desk in your brothers office with your feet propped up. You were quite comfortable as you read through reports. The office door flew open and two men walked in.
"Lestrade we need you to..." The tall curly haired man trailed off when he saw you sitting in Greg's seat.
He stared at you, eyes filled with confusion as he tried to figure you out. You looked at him briefly and already knew who he was. Sherlock. Your brother had told you about him and the way he did things, so it really didn't take a genius to figure that out. Plus you had known him before, thought nobody but you and him knew it. Although you weren't completely sure he remembered you.
"Where is Detective Inspector Lestrade?" Sherlock asked.
"Right here." You said pointing at yourself and smiling.
"No, I specifically remember DI Lestrade being quite a bit taller, has gray hair, and is a male." Sherlock said.
"Maybe you just remember wrong." You said, still smiling.
"Or maybe I do, Miss Lestrade." Sherlock said.
"So you are as smart as he says. I'm glad." You said removing your feet from the desk and sitting up.
"Yeah but that doesn't make him any less annoying." Sherlock's friend, John Watson, said from behind him.
You laughed, "I'm looking forward to it. I've already got a case for you."
You set the file down onto the desk right in front of Sherlock. He smiled and picked it up. He walked right out of the room without another word. John apologized for his rude behavior and followed him out.
As the door clicked shut, you pulled your phone out and searched him up. You found that he was a drug addict and ended up getting arrested for something stupid he did while he was high. You turned your phone off and sighed. You put your phone on the desk and looked out the window. You didn't know what to do, or how your brother even survived this job. 'It's just for a few more days' you thought to yourself. After the day was over, you were so relieved.
You took a cab home and plopped onto your bed. You didn't even bother changing before you went to bed. You just rolled under the covers and let sleep take over.
The next few days were okay. Sherlock came in everyday with newly found evidence on the case you'd given him. There had been three murders in the past two weeks and almost no trace to the killer. Finally, Greg had returned and you wouldn't have to take over for him anymore.
You were happy. As you walked home you realized that there was almost no one out on the streets. No one except for a man sitting in his car talking on his phone. But he was watching you. You glanced at him from the corner of your eye and saw him put down his phone and start the engine. You looked back in front of you but suddenly felt a searing pain in your head. It was the worst headache you'd ever felt in your life. As the pain died down a little, you heard a man's voice telling you to do something. The odd thing was is that you listened and did it.
