Ron's POV

What did Hermione mean?

And why was I suddenly happy?

Lavender looked at me and saw me smile.  Then, she glared at Hermione.

"You!  You're nothing but a nerd!  An ugly, dirty Mudblood!  You... You..."

She yelled out an insult which would have sent anyone to Professor Dumbledore's office.

Harry stood up.

"Don't call her that!  She's my, well, my best friend, and I don't mind who she loves or what she does, but unlike you, I will ALWAYS protect and defend her, and stay her friend forever!"

Lavender turned red.  She whispered in my ear, "I'm coming back for you, Won-won.  Whether you like it or not."

She ran out of the building, leaving everyone shocked.

Hermione, meanwhile stood up to give Harry a hug.

"Harry!  Thank you so much!  You're my best friend too!"

She pulled away.

"And let's just be friends, okay?"

Harry nodded.

"Ron," she said.  "I'm sorry If I'm offending you.  But... Do you still love me?"

I thought for a second.

But I didn't need to think.  My feelings were obvious.

"Yes, Hermione.  I love you too.  I'm sorry for everything I've done.  It was horrible of me.  Will you forgive me?"

I nodded and ran to hug Hermione.

She gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Let's just go back to the way things were before."

She nodded.

Harry looked at Luna, who was walking over to him.

"Luna," he said.  "Let's go back to normal too."

She nodded and ran to Harry.

Everyone clapped and Neville wolf-whistled.

All was well.
