There is something about this writer's work that I like. Said writer also managed to win for both contests they entered, and likely would have had three winners had the first contest limited the writers to one winner. There's always plenty of depth, and emotion, so they're a good writer to look towards if you don't understand what the judges are looking for. In fact, that's one of the things I like, but there are other things I can't place my finger on.
For this particular fic, there is something about the Sleepy Hallow mythos that draws one in on Halloween, so that ended up being a good choice. However, the theme can also become a cliché if the writer doesn't tackle it right. Renner_Addict125's writing style though helped to build up something that was unique, but they also threw in quite a few goodies. I also didn't feel like I needed to know about the fandom when I read this piece, which is another plus. In the long run, a very nice read.
