Title: Deceit is Deadly

Coulson is honestly one of my favorite Marvel characters. Many of fans of the Marvel universe can relate to being a fan of one or more of the Marvel characters, but Coulson gets to be the fanboy inside of canon. His fanboy type also isn't the rabid kind of fanboy, or the delusional fanboy. He's simply a man who believes in his heroes, and he also believes in the good old American values Captain America stands for.
I think one of the things which drew me to this particular one-shot was the emphasis on the American values which Coulson holds so dear. He and Fury discus these values in great depth during Coulson's funeral, and one of the things the two touch upon is the people who ended up emulating these values were the people Coulson continued to look at. They also discussed other aspects as well as a bit of irony I don't wish to go into lest I spoil things for those wishing to check out the one-shot.
Pieces which focus on a conversation between two characters also aren't easy. One way writer's mess up in regards to conversations between two characters is to add needless dialog which serves no purpose in moving the story along. Every bit of dialog was needed. On top of this Renner_Addict didn't focus on just dialog, but also painted a pretty picture of the scene and what Coulson and Fury end up observing.
I'd love to go into more depth about the irony and philosophical meaning being this particular one-shot, but I unfortunately also think doing so would ruin said one-shot for those who haven't read the piece yet.
