23. Seriously?

It had been two weeks, maybe three, and Magnus and I had traveled the world. We'd sent pictures to Clary and them of us in different places. We've watched tons of movies and chatted.

Then we got a message that we needed to get back immediately.

So when we reached the institute and saw Camille chained and Simon and Maryse standing there let's just say it was a bit of a downer.

Maryse explained how Camille only agreed to talk to Magnus. Of course I knew they had dated before so it didn't really bother me. I left him alone as Alec walked beside me with a man who I recognized immediately as Jackson Eliorn. He was a lesser known Warlock.

"Alice, this is my boyfriend." Alec introduced. I smiled.

"Jackson its been a while," He smiled and held out his hand which I took and shook it.

"Alice Ravenblood, it's good to see you my dear." Alec looked a bit uncomfortable. He said goodbye and the two of them walked off. I waited patiently for Magnus and he came out explaining how Camille wanted to make a deal with the Shadowhunters. Clary called me and invited us to a party celebrating Luke and Jocelyn's engagement. Jocelyn had finally confessed her feeling for Luke and they were engaged. Magnus and I got changed and went to the party.

Clary sat down and chatted with me about how Jace had been having nightmares and she brought him to the Silent City so the Silent Brothers could take care of him.

I listened calmly to her. I didn't show it but I was worried. She had just gotten Jace back, well she just learned he wasn't her brother. So they were finally dating. I also learned Simon accidentally drank blood from a human, but don't worry she lived. However she was kidnapped and she apparently was killed. Simon also now had a Praetor Lupus, which is an organization that takes in out of control wolves and helps them learn to protect people, yes even other downworlders. Simon's Praetor was a guy named Jordan Kyle, who I learned was the boyfriend that Maia was turned into a wolf by. But when he turned her that was his first night as a wolf so he wasn't in control. Which Maia didn't exactly seem to care about, she was trying not to murder him though.

So basically I missed a lot.

Clary left the party and Magnus and I danced. Then Isabelle and I talked for a while. Simon had been "dating" Isabelle and Maia at the same time. Honestly I was very confused. Like seriously? Simon had walked off and neither him nor Clary returned for a while. I felt my phone vibrating in my purse. I pulled it out and answered it.

"Speak."

"Hello Alice," Roderick greeted.

"What do you want?"

"Come to this address...alone. Tell no one, or else little Clary dies." He hung up and my phone buzzed signalling Roderick had text the address. I deeply sighed and pulled on my cloak, pulling up my hood. I glanced back at Magnus who was chatting with Luke. I clenched the doorknob before pulling it open and walking out into the night. As I walked I couldn't help but think of what was to come. Would I ever see Magnus again? Was Clary okay? I wasn't sure. I soon reached the address and walked in. I saw a young girl about thirteen twirling around. I raised an eyebrow.

"Maureen is it?" She spun to face me and grinned.

"Little vampy, so am I," she giggled. She reminded me of a kindergartner. I went to walk past her but she side stepped in my way.

"Don't walk away from me. I am a servant of Lilith. She will destroy you." Within a second I had grabbed her by the collar and slammed her against the wall. She cried out.

"Listen kid, I feel sorry for you. But stay out of my way." I threw her to the ground and she scurried away shrinking back as I continued to walk. I took an elevator to the top floor and stepped through a door to find Jace with his arm around Clary's neck holding a knife to her. A glass coffin with Sebastian/Jonathan in it surrounded by water. Lilith was leaning over the casket and Simon was staring around overwhelmed. I looked at Clary and she looked at me with fearful eyes. I looked towards her trying to be reassuring, but it was hard. I looked around the room.

"So...what I miss?"

Where's Roderick?

"Not that much." I spun around to face Roderick behind me. He was leaning against the wall, looking smug.

"We're so glad you could join the party...Please..sit."
