7. You can't touch this

I soon reached the institute and was walking towards Clary's room. I turned the corner to see Alec had Clary pushed up against the wall, his hand wrapped around her throat. I raced forward grabbing his arm.

"Enough Alec," I warned him. He yanked his arm away and stormed off. I turned to Clary.

"Let me guess he wanted you gone and you mentioned the part about him liking Jace right?" She remained silent. Then I remembered something. "Oh hey Happy birthday!" She looked around awkwardly. "Thanks." She went to walk away but I grabbed her arm.

"I think it's time we bonded, don't you? After all I'm your Guardian. Come on I'll teach you some defense moves and we can chat." I pulled her to her room so she could change into something more gym like. I did the same.

I wore a black tank top, black leggings and my hair was up in a ponytail.

We soon reached the training room and stretched.

"Alright my favorite color is red," I said spin kicking her way, she quickly stepped back. I picked up two sticks and threw one towards her. She caught it.

"Uh my favorite color is green." (A/N I don't remember her favorite color so I'm going with green.)
She went to hit my stick with hers but I blocked it pushing her back then swiped it under her feet causing her to fall on her back. I turned my back twirling my stick between my fingers waiting for her to get to her feet.

"I am an Aquarius. I enjoy nighttime, and fast food." She went to hit me with her stick but I blocked it.

"Pay attention to your surroundings red." I smacked her in the shoulder and she stumbled back.

She was breathing heavily now. "I'm uh Virgo. I uh enjoy drawing." I threw my stick to the ground and she followed.

"When you have a female opponent hair pulling can come in handy but use your wrist and thrust it upward at someone's nose which will cause damage and give you time. Anything can be used as a weapon and Seraph blades are your best weapon against a demon." She nodded.

"Now my favorite movie is either Mulan or Pirates of the Caribbean. Although I do enjoy Star Wars, Patch Adams, and Wonder Woman. Now attack me from behind." I turned around and felt her arm wrap around my neck. I took a step forward with my left leg causing her to go off balance and flipped her over my shoulder onto the ground.

"You must always focus Clary. In a fight size doesn't matter. Brain and a good plan is what's gonna get you to win." She nodded weakly and I helped her up.

"Also taking some gymnastics classes does have its advantage's."

We walked back to her room.

"What was my mother like? She looked like she knew you." I paused choosing my words carefully.

"She was a very brave strong Shadowhunter. She fell in love with Valentine in school. Luke became their best friend and Valentines parabatai...but when Jocelyn began to question Valentines beliefs because he began experimenting with downworlder blood and he wanted them all gone. Said they were impure. Just like demons. She turned to Luke for comfort and Valentine became jealous he is the reason Luke became a...never mind. So to stop Valentines plans Jocelyn stole the mortal cup and hid it away. The mortal cup is one of the three Mortal Instruments the angel Raziel, who created Shadowhunters left them with. Drinking from the Mortal cup is what created Shadowhunters, but everyone's been scared to use it. She kept you from this world to keep you safe. Luke has always been there for you two and Jocelyn made the right decision in the end. We can't all choose who we fall in love with." We reached her room. Clary had fallen silent.

"Whats a parabatai? and is the reason Luke became a what?"

"A Parabatai is a pair of Nephilim warriors who fight together as lifelong partners, bound together by oath, regardless of their gender. Their bond is not reflected only in their closeness and willingness to lay down their lives for one another, but also in oath-one sworn in front of the Council. As for your other question you'll have to ask Luke that."

She nodded then as I went to turn she kicked out her foot towards me I slid to the side causing her to loose balance and fall on her face.

"You can't touch this dun dun dun dun," I sang dancing. She smiled and rolled her eyes.

"You are so glad to have a Guardian as fabulous as myself. Think about it you could have gotten a totally boring guardian." She sighed laying her head back.

"What would I do without you?" She asked sarcastically.

I shrugged. "Crash and burn and be bored to death. Or worse expelled." She raised her eyebrow in confusion.

"Expelled from what?"

"I don't know you just don't understand the joke. You weren't there." With that I walked away giving myself a pat on the back even though she didn't understand my reference.
