Another light chapter before we go back to our BoRiNg Units ^^
Words in English that Koreans CaN't Pronounce
Recently there was a smalll arguement that went off with a reader and me. I think it all happened bcuzz they didn't quite understand what I meant ^^ sooo for future references (and no more fights (T^T) i dont like fights) i thought of making this chapter~ weepie!! ^-^
From the english alphabet.. koreans can't pronounce:
F, S, V, X/Z
F ~ u can always see people in korea say for 포 (po) or flower 플라워 (peul-la-weo)
Thats bcuz we dont have a f sound in our language.V ~ we cant. Just cant. Thats why V from BTS is spelled 뷔 (bwii) with a b sound
X ~ we can say X 엑스 (ek-seu) but not wen its in a word (exo doesnt count cuz in english it sounds like ekso)
Like xylophone 자일로폰 (ja-il-lo-pon) again f sound
Its cuz the x in xylophone makes a z soundWhich comes to the next letter Z
People in korea read Z as 지 (jii). Some also day 제트 (je-teu) zebra 지브라 (jii-beu-ra)S ~ but we do have an s?? ㅅ?? Yes we do. However.. koreans cant pronounce it when it's not the starter consonant. If some people read some comments.. u will find that there was a arguement with me and 2 of my readers with the word 했어 (het-seo).
Remember i told u that when ㅅ goes to 받침... it sound like a t. However my readers argued that none of their korean friends say het-seo. They say hes-seo which is wrong cuz koreans cant pronounce hes.
Ex.
Hes would be pronounced 해쓰 (he-seu)
Stress 스트레스 seu-teu-re-seu
Smiles 스마일스 seu-ma-il-seu
notice koreans cant pronounce the ending s like how english can.. there has to be an extra 스 at the end to pronounce the s.However they argued that im wrong... oh well...
The reason to this is because the korean language is all made in syllables.. not letters.
Therefore.. when u talk to a korean.. or when u hear korean cellebs (who cant speak english) speak english.. u hear what is called 'konglish'.. korean english.
Like
Hello. My name is geurimy
헬로우 마이 내임 이즈 그리미
Hel-lo-oo ma-ee ne-iim ii-jeu geu-rii-mii
Notice the 'is' is written 이즈 cuz usually is is pronounced iz.
However there is people who say 이쓰 ii-sseuHehe see u in the next unit (April 24th)!! Babye!!
