1) You know the syllabus? Yes, that's the paper the professor will give or has given you in the first day of class. Browse through it and do an advance research on the articles or books (even supplement books) that will be used in class. Talk to the professor and ask him/her about the books you're going to use, so you can do your advance study.

2) First impression really last (when it comes to professors). So impress your professors in the first day of class. Behave, listen to them, and be active. But don't impress the professors and your blockmates by not being yourself. Just be yourself, listen to class, take notes, and study.

3) Take your notes seriously! When you have a professor who only talks and talks and talks all the time, you need to listen and take note of the important stuff he's saying. Your notes will be your best friend when you review for quizzes and exams.

4) It's okay to be awkward. Come on, you're fresh from high school. It's okay to feel a little bit awkward with your surroundings. But make sure you make friends and join organizations.

5) Don't settle for carpark food. Explore. Go to Dapitan, P. Noval, Lacson, etc. Go eat at Lopez Canteen (It's in P. Noval. If you want to stalk UST athletes, most especially basketball players, then go there), Mang Tootz (also in P. Noval, must taste the banana-rhuma), and Lovelite (in Dapitan, try their combo meals and their choco mango shake!)

6) Wear yellow and watch UAAP games live!

7) Don't dread the rain and flood. It's part of being a Thomasian. In college, I've experienced many floods and rains and I'm proud of it. 'Cause that means I was brave enough to face them. I tell you, if you graduate, you will smile when you reminisce those flooded days.

8) Go to the library. Freshies are welcome there, too. Go to the serials section. Few students go there. The aircon there is really good. If you want to kill time, you can also use the internet in the library. Just give them your ID and you can use the internet for a few hours. For girls, you can go to the section where the magazines are stored. You can read the Cosmopolitan. Hihi.

9) Learn the UST cheers and UST hymn by heart.

10) Lastly, enjoy your stay in the university. It's okay to make mistakes, to experience embarrassing moments, to be excited. Enjoy every moment. Because when you graduate, you will miss everything (like me!). Make the most out of what UST can offer."
