(Narrator's pov)
Never did Senku believe that love would have anything to offer him in the name of science, he was loyal only to science and it's advancements for modern civilization, until he coughed up the first petal. Hanahaki, a one sided bond between soulmates, and from the searing pain in his chest Senku was about to be heartbroken just...like...her. Chrome had found you outside of the village wandering on your own completely naked, but when he brought you to the village Senku immediately recognized you. (Y/n), the very girl that confessed to him a long time ago that he had turned down due to his own stupidity. Once Ruri had fashioned you some clothes to wear you took to exploring the village and that's when your (e/c) hues finally met his. You let out a small gasp seeing him again after all these years and immediately tried to run away from him. Although Senku was not physically fit like most boys but something drove him to chase and capture you and once he had you in his grip he refused to let go.
"(Y/n)!", He called getting you to stop your squirming and look at him.
His eyes held so many emotions in them just for you but you wanted nothing to do with him not after what he had done to you all those years ago.
"I hate you.", You admitted quietly.
Senku's heart sank but his stomach jumped, he let go of your hand and clapped his hands over his mouth to hold back the petals but there was no holding them back. Senku began to vomit petals and whole (fav/flowers) after your comment and you could do nothing but watch in pure horror to what was going on.
"H-hey...Senku...Senku hey look at me, it's gonna be okay just stop and look at me breathe.", You pleaded kneeling down into the petal filled vomit despite how gross it was.
Senku could barely make out your face past his tears but his hanahaki stopped once you called his name so sweetly.
"(Y/n), I know...I know you'll never forgive me for what I said all those years ago but...but even if I die because of this stupid disease just know that I'm sorry.", Senku admitted resting his head against your shoulder as he struggled to breathe.
That night you carried Senku back to the village and handed him over to the boy that found you in the forest. You were conflicted on your feelings now, you accepted his desicion and forgave Senku while you had time to think while frozen but never had you thought that he'd actually have grown feelings for you during the same time. That night you didn't sleep in the village, you weren't sure what you wanted to do with Senku around so you waited until your heart decided to take the lead. You noticed one light on in the village throughout the night, the hut with a telescope reaching out to the stars stayed lit all night and you smiled already knowing that it was Senku. You fell asleep thinking about him and sighed realizing that you were causing him all this pain, did you actually move on after you forgave him?
~The Next Day~
You smiled watching him from the tree tops, Senku always had a habit of muttering incoherently to himself when he was stressed and you always found it cute. Your heart beated against your chest like a drum seeing the small traits that made you fall in love with him like before. The white haired teen felt a presence near him and stared up at the tree tops where he saw you watching him. The young scientist smiled and decided to play with you a bit with a simple little trick. With a base of water he wet and scrubbed his hands with a bar of soap and slowly began to blow bubbles towards you, you smiled and popped them softly while a blush crept over his face. Senku could never forget how beautiful you were but right now you looked even more stunning then before. Senku's chest felt light and for once he was finally able to take a deep breath.
"Bubbles were always your favorite during high school, you loved to dance in them or pop them till your hearts content.", Senku chuckled recalling how cute you were in the past.
"Hmm yeah, I remember when you once made edible bubbles on chemistry, you always were quite impressive. It was the best treat I'd ever had and also the most fun I'd ever had....to bad I messed it all up.", You sighed suddenly feeling depressed.
Senku didn't like the frown on your face at all but you continued with your part, "I messed it up by telling you I loved you, if I had just kept my mouth shut and stayed on the side lines then we wouldn't be where we are today, I could've just died in peace knowing that you were my friend.", You sighed staring up at the cloudy blue sky.
"Died? What do you need die? (Y/n) if you had died before the petrification I never would've gotten to say sorry and with how I am now I wouldn't have lasted long myself.", Senku added suddenly getting worried by your words.
You sighed and hopped down right in front of him, he stumbled back shocked by your small stunt but you caught him. One of your arms wrapped around his waist and the the other tenderly held the back of his head as your lips met his for the very first time. Senku was melted to your touch but his body shook in nervousness since he was unsure of what to do. You giggled against his lips before pulling away from him with a smile on your own.
"You probably never really paid attention to this in biology since it had no real scientific purpose other than to kill people but Hanahaki, the flower disease, was a disease where someone in a one sided relationship falls in love and their lungs slowly fill up with petals and flowers until their soul mate reciprocates or denies their feelings. You didn't care about trivial things like Love back then and after you told me that all those years ago I was sent too the E.R foot critical surgery to open up my lungs since I was dying. I don't want to see you suffer like I did back than so I'll proudly say I love you Senku...but you don't ever have to love me back.", the (h/c) haired girl admitted finally letting her tears from 3500 years ago finally fall.
Senku's chest hurt from seeing your tears and even if you hated it he wouldn't let you go ever again. You tried to turn away from him and leave but he caught your wrist in his hand and pinned you against his body. He rested his forehead on your shoulder peppering your exposed skin in kisses even as you squirmed to get away.
"I'm impressed.", He whispered stopping you dead in your tracks, "I'm impressed by how beautiful, cheerful, energetic, and selfless my soulmate is, even if she's stuck with an annoying over pompous jerk like me, I'm impressed that you could forgive me after all this time and still love me!"
You stared straight ahead at the blurry image of a tree and let his words sink into your ever beating heart.
"I love you (Y/n), It's a 10 billion percent love just for you. I want to make this world a place where my soulmate can live happy, by my side, through science...but I can't do it without you, so please will you stay?", Senku confessed, his face red hot from ear to ear while he awaited your answer.
Senku listened to your whimpers and gently kissed your ears until you eventually choked out a small 'of course' and Senku smiled, he let go of you and smiled before catching your lips in one more kiss as the remaining petals in his body bloomed across his arm and danced away in the wind. You were his soul mate and even though he let science get in your way before he'd never do it again, you were his and even in this primal world the only thing he needed was you.
