(Narrator's pov)
Rex always had a somewhat dull life in Providence, mostly due to always being locked in his room and never actually enjoying a normal teenhood like others, but that all changed the day (y/n) joined Providence. The moment he laid his eyes on you he felt something in his chest and for once it wasn't his nanites. You peeked his interest, not just because you were a very attractive teenager, but because you were a humanoid evo with control of your nanites just like him. At first you were both just sparing partners and boy did Rex let you pound him into the ground often, he couldn't really explain it but looking up at you from the ground made him fall in love over and over. After an almost lethal encounter with Van Kleiss, Rex confessed his feelings for you. You were rather shocked by his confession but the bright flush over your cheeks suggested that you felt the same. Everything was perfect after that day, you were both love struck teenagers but good things were never meant to last.
"So you're gonna take the mission?!", Rex growled, glaring at you as you packed your bags.
"Yes."
"But why? Why leave Providence? You're safe here with me!", Rex hissed grabbing you by your shoulders so you'd look him in the eye.
You stared deep into those beautiful chocolate hues you had fallen in love with and thought of your response. You knew taking this mission in Mexico would be difficult but Rex was known by everyone so you were the only option left, you would have to leave Rex so you could find this Evo Trafficking Hub and shut it down.
"Rex...I was a soldier before I was your lover...and now is one of those moments where I have to choose my job over my heart.", (Y/n) stated softly pulling on Rex's wrist so he could let go, "I'm sorry Hermoso, but it has to be done."
Your words broke Rex's heart, in a rage he stormed out of your room leaving you alone in your own arms. Tonight you'd leave everything and from the looks of it there'd be nothing for you to come back too.
"God I'm gonna miss that smile.", you laughed looking for an excuse to stop your tears that fell like rainfall from your eyes.
Your door opened and Six waited for you in the doorframe, even you could tell he wasn't to fond of this mission, but he couldn't risk putting Rex in danger again. It was show time and you wouldn't even get to say goodbye, Bobo saw you on your way out and you told him to tell Rex "Goodbye" for you but we all knew that's not what Rex wanted to hear. This would be the last time you'd see Providence for a while, but were you really ready for it?
(Timeskip 8 months)
Caesar worked patiently on his projects in his lab while Rex angrily attacked the sandbag in the back. After you had left so many feelings lingered in Rex's heart, sometimes they'd cause negative bio spike other times they'd enhance his abilities. Being an emotional evo-slaying seventeen year old was not easy!
"So are you mad or worried about her today hermano?", Caesar asked not really paying attention to Rex.
Rex's fist accidentally turned into his signature Smack Hands and created a huge hole in Caesar's wall as the punchingbag was sent flying. Caesar finally had to look at his little brother and groaned realizing he'd have to fix the hole later. Rex huffed angrily as he grabbed his jacket and stormed off.
"Geeez breaks a hole in my wall and doesn't even want to talk to me about it what a chamaco.", Caesar sighed.
Doctor Holiday noticed Rex's rather angry aura and started to pursue him but he honestly didn't want to be around anyone. Six being the great person he was didn't care much for Rex's mood swings and told him to suit up for the next mission.
"What's eatin ya kid?", Bobo asked while he cleaned his gun.
Rex fell face first into his bed and screamed into the covers, he hated all these mixed feelings!
