Their name is pronounced 'Empire' and is a combination of the words Music and Vampire. Their fandom name Muse is an acronym that stands for Mind, Understanding, Special and Encouragement. They were appointed the public ambassadors of Korean Disaster Relief in 2013. JYJ's Jaejoong wrote and composed their song On My Mind and gave it to the group.
The group was originally going to be a four membered group composed of Haru, eKang, Taehee, and Useung. A new member was revealed in February 2013 (Jerry) but eKang later quietly left the group. On May 1st, 2013, their label announced more information about the group and confirmed new member Kangon. They later revealed another new member Red. A few weeks before they performed at Dream Concert it was revealed that Kangon had left the group and joined his former group M.peror again and another member T.O. was announced. The group debuted with 6 members but Lumin (former member of F.Cuz) was added in October 2013. Prior to debut, Taehee and Useung were members of a Korean pop trio BB.BBOYS but they disbanded in 2012.
