Chapter 36: The Truth

Gadget's Pov:
I heard people whispering and I felt small bits of rocks under me. I blinked both of my eyes to see a bunch of faces in front of me. I could see the bright light behind them, it was the sun. I blinked again only to see my fellow Resistance members, my brother, and Ira. "Glad you're awake Rookie." Sonic said, I sat up a little lightheaded and nauseous. "Where am I?" I asked, rubbing my head as I could feel a throbbing pain. "Eggman's old base." Knuckles replied, I looked around me and then at myself. I wasn't wearing my normal clothes, I was wearing dark green and white boots, a pair of dark green gloves with infinity signs on them, and more surprisingly a mask one similar to Infinite's. I looked at the group and I stared at Ira as he was wearing something different.

He was wearing my boots, gloves, and utility belt. "Infinite, what are you doing here?" I asked as he made his way to me. "Now, Rookie. You shouldn't call your boyfriend a name, they rather forget." Amy exclaimed, my eyes widen at her statement. "T-They know about us?" I stuttered, Ira chuckled and nodded. He grabbed my hands and put the Phantom Ruby in my grasp. I felt nauseous looking at the gem that I ended up throwing up. Everyone backed up and puked, I sat correctly after I finished and I noticed something about my vomit. It had sliver and glitterly flower petals scattered around on it. I remember everything suddenly, I remembered falling, attacking, beginning another small war, and the memory Ira gave me. "D-Did I really do all that?" I mumbled, looking away as I didn't want anyone to see my now dull eyes.

I felt someone hug and I noticed it was Ira so, I hugged back. I could his tears on my shoulders and I didn't say a word. "I am so glad you're back. I missed you so much and I hated fighting you. I thought you were gone forever." I heard the Jackal say, I patted his back in comfort. "I-Infy...why did you leave me alone like that when Sonic and his Classic self defeated us?" I asked, he pulled away from the hug and looked at me. "Remember me saying that I wanted to protect you?" He asked, I nodded as he helped me get up. I noticed everyone else go as to leave us alone for this private talk. "I left because I didn't want you get more hurt. I didn't want you to get bashed by the others because of me. But, I guess that did more damage than good." Ira explained, he grabbed my hand and I looked at him.

"I don't ever want to lose you again." He said and kissed me, I felt so happy and so, I kissed back. We pulled back and I could feel the gazes of happiness on me. It was from the Resistance and I blushed at the fact. "I don't care what comes are way. I will always love you." I replied, hugging him and burying myself in his chest. "Then, I will love you always as well." He said hugging back and putting his head on my shoulder. Things were back to normal once again.
