Chapter 1: Hidden Conversations

Gadget's Pov:
I woke up and I didn't get much sleep, I wasn't surprised since I kept thinking all night until 2AM. I grabbed my glasses and put them on. I looked at my clock and it read: "10:50 AM".

I woke up pretty late compared to other mornings. I got dressed and went downstairs to where Sonic and his friends. We still lived in the resistance base unit since our houses were being reconstructed.

"Hey Rookie, you woke up pretty late." Sonic said while looking at me in a pretty worried tone. "I just didn't get much sleep and I'm not feeling well. " I said while I looked at myself. My fur wasn't brushed neatly and my eyes had bags under them.

"Well take it easy today and there's some leftover breakfest in the kitchen. Oh and your brother went out to help the citizens!" Sonic said to me and went back to talking with his friends. I left the room and went to the kitchen. There was leftover toast, bacon and eggs.

I grabbed myself a cup of coffee and sat down to where the leftover plate was. I finished the leftovers and the coffee, I put the empty plate and cup in the sink. I went to see what Sonic was doing since I had nothing to do today. I wasn't feeling very good and thought I might've caught something.

I was going to ask Tails or Amy to see if I did really caught a cold or something. I kept hearing them whisper my name and someone else's but I couldn't hear who. I hid behind the wall of the room trying to hear what they were saying.

"Don't you think it's weird that Rookie didn't hear us?" Tails whispered. I knew what they were talking about. "As well as the fact that he fought even when both Infinite and him were Perfect Infinity." Amy whispered. "Infinate?" I mumbled a bit too loud.

Everyone turned to me with their eyes widen. "Rookie were you spying on us?" Knuckles said trying his best not to be worried. I ended up running out of the room and ended up outside. I could only hear Sonic's voice fading as I still ran outside.

"WAIT COME BACK!" That was the only thing I heard before I ran out.
