Okay guys, frankly I'm appalled by the poor implementation of laws. I'm so annoyed ehn, but wait, let's start from the beginning shall we?

For the ABUsites in the building, we're on mid semester break, I'm in Kaduna.
A couple of days ago, I had this weird unexplainable craving for biscuit and since I had too much money, I went out to buy.
Going outside, like within the compound, I see two men holding a baby between them with one putting an instrument back into one nylon bag. I'm not too worried cos hey, circumsition. Though I did wonder briefly why they didn't go to a hospital, only for me to turn back to look and I discover the baby is a Girl!!!

What the fuck?!

That's my exact thought, I'm standing there, giving the men evil eyes, then the mother of the child comes and starts thanking them.

Again, what the fuck!

She's thanking them! She's bloody thanking them! It takes all my willpower not to go over there and start hitting someone, preferably with a hammer, but then I remember that I'm a teenage girl up against two grown men, not good odds.
So I go outside, take a deep breath, almost forgetting my biscuit, then I walk back in and what do I see, the 'workers' being served food.
Pissed off, doesn't even begin to describe how I was that day. These people have access to Television, Radios and Social Media, they go to the Mosque and pray, they live opposite a police station. Why in God's name would they do this?
I started researching on Female Genital Mutilation and apparently it's a part of religion for them. No thank you, there's no where in the Qur'an or Hadith that says girls should be circumsized, if there is, please kindly point it out for me.

According to Wikipedia, FGM is only 28% in Nigeria, taking place mainly in the North. That's painful but not as painful as the fact that it's 98% in Somalia. Holy shit! 98%! That means a great more than half of Somalian women were mutilated.
In some cultures, FGM is seen as a way of purifying the girl, excuse me? Purification? Really? In others, it is to dampen her sexual urge when she grows up, don't even let me get started on how chauvinist that is, but it's actually ironic because mutilation actually leads a female to promiscuity, cos no one will be able to satisfy her.
Health Effects include, difficulty in passing urine and menstruating, risk of death from infection ( some people use their fingernails to do it!) And so on. There are no known health benefits. How about that?

Being the oversabi I am, I went to talk to a few people about it, what did they say? That this ideology will be difficult to change, blah blah blah. Said people supposedly run an NGO, NGO my foot!
I'm still planning on going to other NGOs but I thought I should tell you guys first.
For those of you up North, you can do something about this, talk to people around you, let them know it's wrong. Change the perception, even if it's one person at a time.
For the rest of you, if you see something wrong, do not behave like an Ostrich, sticking your head in the sand would not make it go away.
