(A/N: This is my own request, something I thought of the other day. Hope you enjoy it. Also, Christmas is almost here! How exciting is that!?)

Mark looked down at the flier his best friend had given him the other day. The flier was filled with bold lettering and a large circus tent at the bottom of the paper. His eyes scanned the words as they jumped out at him.
"Come one, come all, to the Circus of your dreams! Clowns, contortionists, and tightrope walkers, OH MY! Come to the Kircus Circus and be fascinated and awed with all its glory! Hope to see you there!"
Following the directions on the paper, Mark made it to a large carnival that was exploding with people. The circus itself looked ancient and old, but somehow had a vibe to it that pulled Mark in.
Today seemed to be a eerie day for the weather. The air was warm but the sun was hiding beneath a thick wall of gray clouds. The wind was gentle and carried the dead leaves across the pavement.
He walked through the many crowds of screaming children and tired parents. He avoided the clowns carrying handfuls of balloons and smiling with their painted up faces.
After walking for a few minutes and watching all the carnival rides, he spotted the large and grant tent. It seemed to reach towards the sky with its bright red and white striped pattern.
The whimsical tune echoed through speakers hooked onto every pole through the place. Mark pursed his lips but then proceeded to file in the large line forming outside of it. After waiting for the crowd to disperse, he made it inside with ease.
The music grew louder as he roamed through the many bleachers and found a spot near the top. He looked around the tent, amazed at just how large and open it was. There was a huge ring in the middle of the tent, shavings covering the ground.
Rings and handle bars were suspended in the air, along with large spotlights pointed at the middle of the ring. The crowd hushed once the lights were dimmed and the music faded into nothing. The silence was piercing until the lights suddenly flashed off. Gasps could be heard throughout the crowd as a matter of confusion hushed through the air.
"Now the fun can begin..." A voice boomed in the middle of the ring. Mark's eyes snapped towards the direction of the voice as the lights flicked back on. Blinking, he gasped when he noticed a man now standing in the ring.
The man had a smirk on his tanned face, his eyes searching the crowd for reactions. The bleachers erupted in applause and cheer. The man was tall, maybe even reaching six feet. He had on a rather tall black top hat with a bright green ribbon tied around it.
He was wearing a red and white striped vest over a long sleeved white shirt and black pants. He walked around the ring, hands thrown up in excitement and clutching onto a long black pole with a gem on the top of it.
He twirled his black mustache between his finger and flashed a dazzling smile to the crowd. The spotlights were how twirling amongst the crowd, the music growing again.
"Welcome, everyone, to my Kircus Circus! Where the impossible is possible, and the unusual and strange are welcome!" He yelled to the crowd, spinning in a circle. After the audience had calmed down, the show then started.
First up was a lion trainer and a man on an elephant. Mark felt a little uneasy as he watched the three roaring tigers circle their trainer. The girl wasn't breaking a sweat as she ordered them through hoops and obstacles at her will.
The man on the elephant was doing handstands and flips off the massive animal. The elephant was holding a trumpet and blasting out funny tunes while wearing a small hat. Mark laughed along with the crowd, clapping and cheering.
He was amazing with the show as he watched contortionists twist themselves into pretzels, men breathing fire from their mouths, bearded ladies, and even a woman hypnotizing a python and making it dance with just a whistle from her flute.
It was breathtaking to Mark, his eyes remained the size of saucers throughout the entire thing. The Ringmaster was talking to the crowd the entire time, throwing little prizes and making jokes to ease them.
"NOW, ALL OF YOU LOVELY PEOPLE ARE ABOUT TO SEE OUR FINALE! This little treat is going to be in the air. Have some of you wished you could fly? Well, after this, you just might think it's possible." He swept his cane in the air, staring up at the rings and bars hung up in the air.
"I present to you all...the beautiful (Y/N)! The girl who can walk on air!" He bellowed loudly, a spotlight shining onto where you stood at the edge of the board. You smiled to the crowd, giving them little waves before taking a deep breath and inching closer to the edge.
Your toes curled around the board, determination on your face. You wore a sparkling red leotard that hugged your figure and ensured nothing would get caught on anything and ruin your act. Your hair was slicked back into a tight bun and you started jumping.
Mark's eyes locked on you the whole time. You were beautiful, so beautiful Mark couldn't keep his eyes off of you. That and you were so many feet in the air about to plummet yourself to the ground.
You winked at the crowd before diving into the air and letting yourself fall. The crowd gasped and started showing their panic before you easily caught the handle bar beneath you. You swung yourself around the bar, flinging yourself through the air towards another bar.
You were effortless and graceful with every act you did. You grabbed the hoops and bars each time and you flipped several times in the air. It looked like you were flying through the air, a magnificent bird.
You flipped a few more time in the air before you perfectly landed on a thin tightrope hung in the middle of the air. It wobbled under your weight and the crowd cried out. You held your arms out beside you, concentrating on relaxing yourself.
"Wow.." Mark breathed, smiling and leaning forward in anticipation. You walked slowly across the rope, even doing some acrobatic moves along with it. The crowd was ballistic, clapping wildly and cheering. The ringmaster watched from the ground, nodding in content but not smiling.
You looked down at him, seeing his cold expression. It made your throat close and your stomach churn. This made your body lean forward too much and start to lose balance. You gasped quietly and did a flip, swinging down to a bar before flipping yourself back up towards the board.
After landed on your feet perfectly, you stood back up and threw your hands up for finish. The crowd cheered loudly as you bowed and forced the smile. Tears pricked the corners of your eyes as you looked down and knew that the Ringmaster had seen your mistake.
"I hope you enjoyed our humble performances. We loved entertaining and awing the crowd. Kircus the Circus, at your service. With that, I bid you all a-due!" The man bowed deeply, taking his top hat off and sweeping it along the ground as he bowed.
Mark watched you climb down the ladder and quickly escape out the back of the tent. He stood up, feeling the urge to tell you just how amazing your performance was. As the Ringmaster continued talking, he was able to sneak out of the tent.
He looked around, trying to guess where you had gone to. He walked around the tent, ignoring the cheering from inside it. He spotted a flash of red disappear into a smaller blue tent. He smiled, rushing to meet you. He peeked through the tent, seeing you walk towards a dresser with a large mirror.
"Um...hello.." He said softly, opening the tent wide so you could see him. You gasped, turning around quickly and spotting him. You quirked an eyebrow, crossing your arms.
"You're not allowed back here.." You said, looking at him curiously. He nodded, looking guilty and rubbing the back of his neck.
"I figured..um I just really wanted to say how amazing you were today. Your performance was breathtaking." You were shocked at his words. You knew people were amazing at your acts but no one ever came forward to personally tell you. The Ringmaster ensured that.
"O-Oh..well thank you.." You said slowly, nodding towards him and clasping your hands together. He smiled warmly, stepping forward and holding out his hand. He was attractive, very attractive actually. He had dark brown hair that was shaved on the sides of his head. He had a sharp face and soft brown eyes. He pushed up his black glasses back up his nose.
He was wearing a simple brown jacket and a black shirt with blue jeans. You stared at his hand for a few moments before shaking it. You smiled back at him, blushing a little. You knew the consequences if the Ringmaster saw you interacting with the crowd members, but that seemed to slip your mind.
"I'm Mark, Mark Fischbach. It's a pleasure to meet you." He gently pulled your hand up to his lips and placed one on the back of your hand. You suppressed a smile as you introduced yourself as well and let go of his hand.
"You were really amazing. I'm terrified of heights so I probably would have cried like a little baby." You chuckled, allowing yourself to relax and step closer to him. He continues to compliment you, excitement in his sparkling eyes and his deep voice luring.
"So how long have you been doing this?" He asked, both of you now sitting in front of each other in front of the dresser. You looked at yourself in the mirror, beginning to take down your hair.
"Ever since I can remember. My parents abandoned me long ago and I ended up in this circus. Ever since then, they've taken me in and I became a member of the Kircus Circus. They trained me, loved me, fed me, and became my family. The Ringmaster is the leader of the Circus. He's very good to me."
You lied through your teeth, knowing that beneath your leotard bloomed bruises and scars from long term abuse from this circus. Underneath the makeup on your skin shielded the purple marks caused from a drunk ringmaster. It wasn't the first and it wouldn't be the last.
"That's amazing, I'm sorry about your parents. I've always loved carnivals and circuses. They hold a unique trait about them I've always found a love for. The strange and the unnatural, my favorite." He stated, winking at you and smiling. You smiled back, feeling your heart flutter.
"So how did you find this ci-" Your question was cut off as a man walked through your tent and stopped in his tracks. His piercing eyes locked with yours and you felt your stomach drop. It was the Ringmaster, and he didn't look happy.
Mark saw the expression on your face and turned just in time for the Ringmaster to change his expression into something happier. The ringmaster chuckled and made his way towards you.
"Hello there! I'm so glad you could make it to my show! How was it?" Mark stood up, smiling at the Ringmaster and back to you. You gave a small smile, feeling the Ringmaster's eyes on you.
"Oh, it was simply amazing! I loved every part of it! I was just here telling your lovely performer how amazing her act was! It was really something else." The Ringmaster smiled warmly and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. You tried not to wince as his nails dug into your skin.
"She was wonderful, wasn't she. She needs some more practice but we're getting there. I hate to break up the party but she does have some more practicing to do. We will be here tomorrow for another show if you'd care to come. Until then, we do have to go."
Mark nodded, shaking the man's hand and shooting a smile at you. You forced a smile, yearning he wouldn't leave. Mark waved goodbye and stepped out, letting the flap close. Rather then leaving, Mark realized he forgot his pocket watch on the table and went to go back in.
"How stupid do you think I am!?" The Ringmaster said through clenched teeth, making you flinch. Mark hesitated, leaning forward and looking through the crack in the tent. You leaned back, holding up your shaking hands.
"Nobody saw it, I fixed myself. It was just a little mess up, that's all. Please." The man laughed softly, shaking his head. In one swift movement, he backhanded you in the face. You cried out and fell, hitting the ground with a thud. Mark gasped, anger coursing through him.
"Don't you ever, and I mean ever, mess up like that again. I noticed, I noticed the mistake. Don't ever, ever think you're performance is perfect. You're a disgrace and your family discarded you for a reason. Now, let's go back in your cage for the night. Think about what you've done while you're there."
He roughly picked you up by the elbow, shoving you towards the flap. Mark moved to the side of tent before you were pushed out, tears welling in your eyes. There was a harsh red mark on your cheek as you bit your lip and moved forward. Mark's fists clenched in anger.
The Ringmaster checked to make sure no one was looking before grabbing your arm and yanking you in the right direction. Mark followed the two of you quietly as he led you towards the back of the carnival. Once the music was faded and the sound of people was just a buzz of noise, you were behind the carnival.
He shoved you towards a large metal cage sitting behind the fences of the carnival. You sighed, opened the large door and getting shoved in once the door had opened. You fell hard on your knees, shooting a glare at the man. He chuckled and slammed the door shut, locking it with a skeleton key he pulled from his pocket.
"Now, now, dear. Don't get so pissy, it makes your face so unappealing. Now, think about tomorrow's performance and don't disappoint me next time." He said darkly, making you nod and move to the back of the cage. He nodded, turning sharply and humming a tune as he slipped through an opening in the fence.
Mark was appalled by what he had just witnessed. He watched you wipe the tears from your face and smudge your makeup. The cage was large enough for you to stand up in, scattered hay placed on the ground. You were being treated like an animal instead of a human being.
"What the hell are they doing to you here?!" Mark said, stepping out from behind the fence. You gasped, turning around and running to the bars. Mark ran in front of you, eyes wide and mouth dropped open. You sighed, pressing your head against the bars.
"It's not as glamorous as he makes it seem. I'm trapped in this prison of a circus." You said, voice trembling and face throbbing. He reached through the bars and grasped your hand, giving it a tight squeeze before looking into your eyes.
"I'm going to get you out of here." You nodded, doubtful but hopefully. Mark opened his mouth to say more but he heard your Ringmaster coming back again. He grabbed your hand and brought it to his lips, kissing your knuckles before stepping away.
"I'm coming back. I promise." You reached out for his hand before watching him round the corner and disappear. You slid down the bars, clenching your teeth so hard you thought they would break. You sat there, awaiting your abusive Ringmaster and praying that brown eyed boy would come back to break you out of this hell.

I promise...
