"Are you coming with us?" Jack asked, holding hands with his girlfriend, Signe. You nodded absently, staring out the window. It was finally October, your favorite month. The leaves were all turning into bright red and oranges, the wind were icy and crisp, and the smell of pumpkin filled the air. You pulled on your beanie and sweatshirt, shoving your converse on. Jack ran a hand through his green hair as Signe got her hat adjusted. You sighed, looking at them while they have their lover stare going on. Soon, the three of you were heading down the street, fighting against the chilly breeze. You didn't mind, you were quite enjoying the weather.

Jack and Signe wanted you to join them for a walk in the park, seeing as you had stayed inside for awhile. You followed behind them slowly, obviously being the third wheel. You watched Signe giggle as Jack whispered things into her ear. You felt a pang of jealousy for them, you wanted what they had. You pulled up your sleeves, still seeing no marks at all. You frowned, pulling them back down to hide your smooth and pale skin. You lived in a world where your soulmate could trace or draw on their skin, and in return, it would occur on your own skin as well. That's how you would find your soulmate, but lately, nothing had seemed to happen.

You all made it to the park, a few other couples and families there as well. You found a wooden table by a big oak tree, and decided to sit there. You all brought food there for a picnic, and soon the feast began. You watched little kids squeal and run around as their parents sat on benches and watched them happily. It seemed like everything was going on around you, and you were just..stuck. Old couples strolled by, young couples spent their time in lip locks against a tree, and a few dogs were bounding down the sidewalk while their owner quickly ran after them. You turned back to your untouched food, bringing your eyes up to watch Jack and Signe. They seemed so happy, so in love. Her gorgeous red hair was blowing in the breeze, Jack's hands gently tucking it behind her ear. She blushed, kissing his cheek.

She spread her hand out, resting it palm down. She used her fingertip to trace a heart on the back of her hand. Her skin swelled up where she had touched in, her pattern showing up on her skin. She looked over at Jack, who was now looking down at his own hand. He chuckled as the exact same heart appeared on the back of his hand. They shared a quick kiss, interlocking their fingers together. You sighed, watching the mist curl up into the air. Jack noticed your mood, looking at you in sympathy.

"Don't get too down on yourself, lass. Someone is out there for you. It's just taking longer." Signe agreed with him, patting her hand in comfort. You forced a small smile, nodding at them. You knew they didn't understand, they never would. Jack found Signe instantly, and it seemed like yours would never show up. You look down at your hand, pulling up one of the sleeves. The two lovers were engrossed in their own conversation while you stared at your skin. You traced a small flower on it, watching it show up on your skin. You looked around, hoping to maybe see something that would help you lead you to your soulmate. Sadly, nothing happened and no one seemed affected by your drawing.

"I'm going to walk around. Warm up a little bit, I'll be back." You stated, standing up and walking off. The two nodded quickly, giggling about how Jack had drawn Septic Sams all over his and Signe's arms. You shook your head, pulling your hood up and continuing down the walk. You passed by an old man feeding bread to the ducks in the pond, the scene made you smile. You couldn't shake the possibility that your soulmate just wasn't for you. Maybe he died, maybe he got lost..maybe he doesn't want a soulmate. The thought saddened you, so you pushed it away and focused on the leaves fluttering out of the sky. You raised your head to the ash sky, watching the pops of color fall to the ground. You shoved your hands deep in your pockets, hearing the sound of chatter all around you.

You didn't want to be lonely anymore..

Just then, you found yourself bumping into somebody. You both cried out, falling onto your bottoms. You groaned, looking to see a young man on the ground in front of you. Your cheeks bloomed with blush as you rushed to his side, apologizing quickly.

"I am so sorry! I wasn't even paying attention to where I was going! Are you okay! I'm terribly sorry, sir!" You said quickly, your hand shooting out to help him up. He rubbed the back of his head, chuckling and accepting the offer. You helped him to his feet, your face getting redder. He was quite the young man at that. His fiery, red hair caught your attention first. It was blowing in the breeze, getting in the way of his soft, brown eyes. You gulped, scratching the back of your neck and shifting your weight. He was wearing a black jacket and blue skinny jeans with converse. He shot you a smile, making you feel warm. You nervously returned the smile back, brushing off the dirt on your pants. Clumsy ass, you thought in embarrassment.

"It's totally fine, I wasn't looking as well. Silly me, are you okay? We collided pretty damn hard." He let out a short laugh, making you join him. You nodded quickly, seeing him stick out his hand. You shook it, feeling how warm his hands were.

"My name is Mark..Mark Fishbach. Again, so sorry about that little incident." He pushed his black glasses back up his nose with his finger, cocking his head at you. You found it incredibly adorable.

"Oh, uh, m-my name's (Y/N)..(L/N)." He nodded, smiling a little at the sound of your name. He cleared his throat, suddenly becoming nervous. You got distracted by the color of his eyes for a minute before being pulled back into reality. He flashed you another bright smile before waving at you.

"Well, it was very nice meeting you, (Y/N.) I have somewhere to be, but I hope to see you soon again. Have a good day." With that, he walked away, leaving you standing there staring at him. Your shoulders dropped, your smile gone. He was so handsome, so polite, so handsome! I wish he was my soulmate, you thought glumly as your friends called you back. You took your time walking back to the table, your mind on Mark now. You looked at your palm, lightly tracing the name, "Mark" into it. You smiled a little as you watched it appear. You knew it was a longnshot that this man was for you, but you couldn't help but feel your heart pound at the mention of him. You couldn't shake those eyes out of your mind, nor did you want to. Sadly, you couldn't see his arms or hands because of the jacket he had on.

Where is my soulmate?
