Mark Rider:
This is the story of how I died..
Don't worry!
This is actually a very fun story and the truth is, it isn't even mine.
This is a story of a girl named Rapunzel and it starts with the sun...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens and from this small drop of sun, grew a magic, golden flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured. Now, you see that old women over there?
You might want to remember her. She's kind of important. Well, centuries passed, and a hop skip and a boat ride away there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and Queen. And the queen, well she was about to have a baby.
She got sick. Really, sick..
She was running out of time, and that's when people usually start to look for a miracle. Or in this case, a magic golden flower. The older woman had other plans. You see, instead of sharing the sun's gift, this woman, Mothe Gothel, hoarded its healing power and used it to keep herself young for hundreds of years, and all she has to do is sing a special song:
Flower, gleam and glow Let your power shine Make the clock reverse Bring back what once was mine What once was mine..
All right, you get the gist. She sings to it, she turns young, creepy right? The guards of the castle finally found the golden flower that was able to heal the queen. The queen then had a beautiful baby girl, a princess was born. A princess with beautiful golden hair. I'll give you a hint, that's Repunzel. To celebrate her birth, the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky, and for that one moment, everything was perfect. And then that moment ended...
The moon was high in the sky, stars dotting the midnight canvas above. The castle was quiet, not a sound to be heard besides the gentle snoring of the King and Queen. All was quiet until a shadow casted along the floor of the baby room. You were sleeping away in your crib, the sound of a window opening filled the room. A lady paced across the room towards the crib, her eyes cold and hard as steel. Her hair reached her waist in grey curls, her skin wrinkly and aged. She had a black cloak on, the hood covering most of her features. She smiled in the moonlight as she rubbed hands together evilly. She chuckled to herself before grilling the crib and leaning over it eagerly. Her eyes scanned the tiny baby squirming around in the covers. She let her eyes trail along her beautiful long hair the color of the sun. She leaned down and picked up a lock of your golden hair. She smiled, pulling out a pair of scissors from her pocket. Holding it dangerously close to the lock of hair, she began to sing the familiar tune. As she sang softly to your hair, it started to glow brightly and radiate warmth into the old woman's hand. "Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reve-" The woman was cut off with her own gasp as she snipped the hair. The outcome was not what she had been expecting. Instead of the lock of hair continuing to glow and glisten, it stopped abruptly and grew into a dark brunette. The woman shook her head, holding the dead lock in her hands. Glaring at the little baby, her eyes light up with an evil plan. She carefully picked up the long haired child, gathered up the rest of her hair, and ran to the window. She cooed to the baby, lulling it back to sleep as she gingerly climbed out the window. Just like that, Repunzel was gone. The kingdom searched and searched but they could not find the Princess. For deep within the forest, in a hidden tower, Gothel raised the child as her own. Little Repunzel sat on the floor, playing with her teddy bear as Gothel sat in a chair behind her. With a brush, she gently ran it through your hair as you sang softly into the air. As you sang, your hair began to glow and another sighed in relief as her wrinkles and dark bags under her eyes melted away into smooth and young skin again. Gothel had found her new golden flower, but this time she was determined to keep it hidden. You looked up at your "mother" with big doughy eyes, a small pout on her lips as you pointed at the window. "Why can't I go outside?" You asked, cocking your head as your mother continued to brush through your hair. She smiled at you, already knowing what to say as she lightly patted your head. "The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people. You must stay here, where you're safe. Do you understand, flower?" You nodded your head up and down, turning back to your teddy bear as you peered up at the window again. "Yes, mommy." The walls of that tower couldn't hide everything from you. Each year, on your birthday, the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky, in hope that one day, their lost princess may return..
You padded your way across the room, a smirk planted on your lips. You bit your bottom lip, catching the small chameleon scurrying for a hiding spot. You tapped your foot, giggling a little as you waited for him to dive into the window sill before looking behind a chair. "HA! Oh, hmm..well, I guess Pascal's not hiding out here.." You grin as you hear a tiny snigger from behind the window curtains. In one swift motion, you tear away the curtain and snatch up the green creature. Pascal lets out a little squeal before going limp and hanging upside down. He sighed, crossing his little arms and glaring at you. "Gotcha! That's twenty-two for me. How about twenty-three out of forty-five?" You suggested, seeing Pascal frowning. "Okay, well what do you wanna do?" Pascal squeaks before running across the table and jumping into the window sill, pointing with his head towards outside. You sighed, walking over and picking up Pascal. "Yeah, I don't think so. I like it in here and so do you." You say sternly, earning Pascal to stick his tongue out at you. You giggled, letting him sit on your shoulder. "Oh come on Pascal, it's not so bad in here..."
(Part 2 coming up, I didn't want this chapter to be too terribly long. Mark will be in the next one I promise. Patience, I hope you'll be enjoying these.)
