It was too late. He was with someone else already. You two had broken up five months ago. It wasn't because of anything serious just the distance. But you got a job where he lives so you thought maybe it would work.
You were wrong. The day you moved, you saw Tyler with a girl. She was sitting on his lap and they were both laughing as they waited for their coffee. You walked out of Starbucks before he could see you. That was two weeks ago. He doesn't know that you've moved here.
Now you're making a quick coffee run for your co-workers. You walk in and greet your friend Andrew who works there.
"Hey Y/N", he greets you as you smile up at him.
"How are you doing?", you ask him.
"It was crazy earlier. Some tv star came in and got recognized by a bunch of teenagers so we had to pry them off him", he laughs and you chuckle with him.
"Welcome to LA", you grin and he smirks at you.
"What can I get you?", he asks and you give him your order before paying and going to take a seat.
You take out your phone, responding to emails as you wait for your order.
"Y/N?", a male voice calls and you look up to see Tyler standing in front of you, his eyes wide as he looks down at you.
"Hey", you say after the shock wore off.
"Wh.. what are you doing here?", he asks.
"I moved here a couple of weeks ago", you tell him and he frowns.
"Why didn't you tell me?", he asks.
"I.. I was going to.. but.. I saw that you moved on so yeah", you explain and he frowns even more. He runs his hand through his hair as he sighs.
"If I knew you were coming back.. I..", he starts and you tilt your head, waiting for him to continue.
"You what?", you ask. He opens his mouth to say something when Andrew comes over and places your order on the table in front of you.
"Ah perfect! Thank you so much", you tell Andrew who opens his arms waiting for a hug. You smile and hug him before grabbing your order.
"I'll see you tomorrow", you tell Andrew and he nods smiling and then looking at Tyler.
"Oh! We have your cellphone", he says and walks over to grab Tyler's phone and gives it to him.
"Thanks", Tyler says. Andrew nods before walking away.
"I better get to work", you say and Tyler just looks at you.
"I'll see you around Ty", you say and turn around to leave.

"Y/N!", your friend at work calls as she walks into your office.
"Hey! What's up?", you ask as you see her panting.
"Someone's here to see you", she smiles and you get up to see who she is talking about.
You walk out and see Tyler standing by the entrance to your office block. He turns to look at you and smiles. That breathtaking smile that you fell in love with.
"Hi", you say.
"I don't mean to bother you at your work", he says as he walks up to you.
"It's alright. What are you doing here?", you ask.
"I guess I just wanted to catch up", he says and you tilt your head.
"My break is in ten minutes.. do you mind waiting here for a bit? I just have to take something to my boss", you explain and he nods, looking around your office.
He smiles at the picture of your dog on your computer.
You excuse yourself while he looks at the view.
You come back and he's on his phone. He smiles at you as you walk in and gather your stuff.
"Yeah that's perfect. I'll see you then", he says and ends the call.
"Sorry was just my manager", he tells you.
"You don't have to explain. Where would you like to go?", you ask and he frowns at you. You're so off with him.
"Um.. wherever", he says.
"There's this cute pizza place across the road", you say and he nods.

"So how have you been?", he asks as you two give your order and go sit down.
"Um I've been alright. How about you?", you ask.
"Same. It's been weird without you", he admits.
"I'm sure you survived", you say dryly.
"She isn't my girlfriend", he says suddenly.
"I don't know if you saw it on twitter or something but they took the photo out of context. We've been friends for a while and we had been hanging out but that's it. I have no feelings for her", he continues.
"You just let anyone sit on your lap?", you ask and he looks down.
"That looked bad yes.. but I guess I just missed the feeling of having someone. And when she showed some interest yes I enjoyed it. But I told her I didn't want anything to happen", he tells you.
You look at him, he is looking into your eyes.
"I still love you", he says and you shake your head.
"We've been apart for months..", you say but he cuts you off.
"That doesn't change the way I feel about you", he tells you.
"Well you know I still love you. The first chance I got to move here I took it because I thought we would work", you say and he moves his chair to sit next to you, grabbing your hands in his.
"We can.. we can try again", he says, his breath hitting your lips.
"Okay", you say and he smiles.
He leans forward and presses a kiss to your lips. And finally, you feel safe.
