PROMPT:
The governor wants you as a trade for the safety of the Prison. You agree, though Rick and Daryl don't.
[requested by @Hummingbird722]

"This is sick." You whispered to yourself, scratching your arm and staring at the fence of the prison. You hoisted your bag up on your shoulder and sighed. With the prison far behind you, you continued walking. Nothing but the dim moonlight on your shoulder guiding you away.

A lot had happened...and it started like this:

"He wants Y/n." Rick breathed out, his breath hitched and jagged.
"What?" Daryl questioned. You leaned against the table, staring at Daryl and Rick.
"Why does he want me?" You asked innocently, despite the fact that deep down you were seriously wondering why.
"The governor came to the conclusion that if we gave him Y/n, he wouldn't attack us." It made Rick's chest hurt to speak, as he stared you down like it was the last time he'd ever look at you.
"Okay..." you whispered with a shaky voice. Daryl shook his head.
"Hell naw." He growled. "There's no tellin' what that crazy son of a bitch is gon' do to you." Daryl told the two of you. You shook your head, opening your mouth to protest. Before you could speak, Rick started.
"You're too important to us, Y/n. We fight. We're not gon let him have you."
"No." You alerted the two of them, your voice strong and defiant. "Fighting gets people killed- and I don't want anybody else to die. It just isn't worth...me..."
Rick looked at you like you were crazy for a second.
"This ain't a discussion, Y/n. I'll go tell Glenn and Hershel now. Sasha'll go up on the guard tower. Get ready for em'" Rick left the room, uninterested in your plea to leave. You turned to Daryl.
"It ain't no secret the guy is in love with you." Daryl scoffed. You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms over your chest. "Don't think Rick realises it ain't a secret." He added. You shook your head.
"Crush or not, Daryl...this isn't right. I should go." You argued. Daryl shook his head.
"I ain't letting that happen. Neither is Rick, so you best be gettin ready for a fight."
You rolled your eyes again, storming out of the room.

You had no idea why the governor wanted you- and it scared you. Every step towards Woodbury made your legs shake. What was the fate you were marching towards?

It was only right that you sacrificed yourself. It was noble. It was right.

Twigs cracked in the woods behind you and you turned, not surprised to see nothing there. You fasten your pace, zigzagging through trees. You do so until you bash into a hard figure. It claws at you in response, and like a second nature you pull out your knife and stab it.
Before you let it go, a bolt from a crossbow goes tunnelling into the walkers head. You sigh, feeling your heart race in your chest.
You shove the walker to the ground, not surprised, this time, to meet two figures staring at you.
Daryl and Rick.
"Show off." You muttered, yanking the bolt out of the walker and passing it to Daryl. He slid it back into his crossbow.
"Y/n." Rick growled. "We can't let you go."
You shook your head, tears prickling in your eyes.
"And I can't let you die! Rick! I can't! It's just not worth it!" You wiped away the tear as soon as it trailed down your face.
"Not worth it, huh? Not worth your life?" Daryl argued, with anger. "Your gon die, you know that? So ya life ain't worth a fight?"
You shook your head. "No..." you whispered. "But it's not worth yours. Not worth Judith, Carl, Beth, Hershel, Maggie. Not worth anybody else. I'm sorry. I have to go."
Rick pulls out handcuffs, approaching you.
"I'm sorry too." He whispered. You shook your head, taking off in a sprint.

You were a fast runner, years of running from walkers made you that way. But Rick was faster. He jumped on top of you, pushing you on to the ground.
"Get off of me!" You shouted, shoving at his chest. He straddled you, pinning you down. You were shocked at his strength, and his force. You stopped, staring up at him.
"Rick..." you whispered. "Get off."
Rick stood up, realising his force and fearing himself. He helped you up- but maintained a strong grip on your wrist. He handcuffed you- and you remained silent in your own fear. Why was he fighting against your decision so hard? Why couldn't Rick just accept that this is what you wanted? What you felt inside that you needed to do?

The three of you trudged back to the prison- and everyone stared at you. Just staring. Rick left you in a cell and locked it. You were left to your thoughts, and the only thing you could think of was how rough Rick was. You were afraid of his strength. Something in Rick's eyes told you he felt the same way.

The sun rose and fell- and by the time you woke up the cell door was open. Unlocked. You had been curled in the corner sitting upright when you fell asleep. You were now on the bed with a blanket thrown across you. You stared at the wall for a while, feeling like you'd failed your group. You'd failed yourself.

You just wanted to save them?

Rick interrupted your thoughts, entering the room with his gun in his hands.
You stared at him, emotionless.

"Why are you here?" You questioned, playing with your fingers.
"Because I wanted to apologise. To explain myself." He told you. You nodded, hugging your knees.
"I'm not sorry for bringing you back." He began. You sighed in response. "I'm sorry for being so rough. For scaring you. I saw the look in your eyes and I hated it. For that- I'm sorry."
Your shoulders sagged as you listened to him. Things had been so messed up.
"But I'm not sorry for bringing you back. It ain't right. Lord knows what he wants to do with you. I don't want him layin' a hand on you. Is that so bad? I don't want to risk you being hurt."
You shook your head, narrowing your eyes. "Why?" You whispered. "Why do you care so much."
You stood up, still fully dressed. You stood up and you closed the space between you and Rick.
"Why won't you let me save you?" You whispered.
"Because I love you." Rick answered. "I love you and I wanna be with you. And if we're gonna do this, I want you with me. I want you by my side."
You looked down, and Rick placed a hand on your chin and lifted your head up.
You kissed Rick- and you were so grateful for the moment that you didn't wanna leave. You wanted to fight- because this was worth fighting for.
