**SPLASH**
In less than a second, you were covered head to toe in snow, soaking wet. You flipped the car off as it continued to drive off. Your anger was soon interrupted by laughter coming from your right. There stood Craig, laughing his ass off. "Seriously Craig? You could've warned me that he was coming, or moved me!" You exclaimed, reasonably irritated. Glancing at you through his tears, he merely shrugged. Taking a sharp breath, you decide to let it go, since he's been acting like this for a month now, and continue walking to the movies with Craig.
During the walk there, a heavy silence filled the atmosphere. Before you could get there, however, Craig reached an arm out, stopping you. "Stop, (Y/n). There's a cat over there sitting on the bench like a person." Craig whispered, before pulling out his phone and stalking towards the cat. You glanced at the time on your phone, and sighed, following him in suit. You had 10 minutes before the movie was going to start.
"Craig, that cat is there every day. She's the local stray. Hell, she'll probably be there when we get back. Let's speed this up and get to the movie okay?" You ushered him along, before cooing at the stray. You felt him stiffen up and shrug your hands off. Immediately, you felt a pout slide across your face as you crossed your arms. Of course, he would choose a cat that we see every day over me. Before you could snap at him, you noticed Kyle walking towards you both, down the sidewalk.
"Hey (Y/n)! What's up?" He greeted, a soft smile etched into his features. You returned his welcome, before stepping aside with him to talk, as to not disturb Craig. Upon leaving Craig with the cat, you quickly explained the situation to Kyle and your frustration, though making sure Craig couldn't hear. He listened intently, drawing heat to your face at the surprising act of which you haven't seen in quite a while.
"If he's going to act like that, maybe you shouldn't hang out with him. Maybe you should hang out with someone who puts you first." He agreed, before sliding his hand into yours, intertwining your fingers, squeezing gently. You felt your face burn into flames, not knowing what to do about this current event of things. Your eyes met his, and he smiled once again, before continuing, "Would you like to go with me to the movies instead?" His question rang in your ears as you searched your brain for the right answer.
Did you like Kyle like that? You didn't think so. However, you knew that the way he treated you sure felt great compared to how a certain someone had been; a certain someone you did like like that nonetheless! Biting your lip, you debated what you should do, before finally coming up with a solid answer. "Yes Kyle, I would love to." You confirmed your response, leaving your hand to remain in his, before ignoring Craig and continuing to walk to the movies with Kyle instead.
~Time skip to after the movies~
By the time you had left the movies with Kyle, it was dark outside. Thankfully, Kyle had been such a gentleman throughout the night that he decided to walk you home as well. It was like Kyle was an angel! After spending the time at the movies getting to know him and spend time with him, you concluded that you could get over Craig with Kyle, and date Kyle instead. "Thanks for tonight Kyle, it was really fun! It felt great to actually spend time with someone who would pay attention to me!" Spite seemingly spilled out before you could stop yourself. After saying the words, you cleared your throat and tossed an apologetic smile his way.
Once you had made it back to your house, he pressed his lips to the back of your hands, and turned away, leaving you at your front door. Before you could step inside, you felt a pair of arms reach around and grab you, pulling you to the side of the dimly lit house. You kicked and punched, trying to get free. Your foot quickly made contact with the attacker's groin, whilst your elbow met face. "Ow! What the fuck, (Y/n)?" Craig's furious voice calmed your worries, but not for long. Immediately after hearing his voice, anger soon filled your being.
"Why the fuck did you sneak up behind me asshole?" You asked accusingly, before stepping away from him, allowing him the space to recover.
"I just wanted to talk to you, dick." He answered, wiping the blood off his face, standing up from the ground.
"Me? Am I the dick? I thought you were an attacker trying to hurt me! I can't believe-," You interrupted yourself, squeezing your hands into balls of fists to calm yourself down. "Whatever Craig. Just go on home. I am really not in the mood for what you have to say. Not now, not ever again." You dejectedly informed him, before unlocking the door and entering your home. Before you could finish closing the door, a foot interjected.
(Y/n), chill the fuck out. Why are you acting like this? Just let me talk!" He demanded, forcing himself inside, closing the door behind him. You glared daggers at him, thoroughly upset.
"Acting like this? Acting like what? You mean acting angry like I should be? Fuck you, Craig. I shouldn't have to hear you out after the way you've been treating me this past month." You snarled back, walking up to him, jabbing his chest with your index finger. Hurt tears flooded your eyes, threatening to flow over the full dam.
"I haven't been acting weird, I don't know what you're talking about! Whatever, okay? I just want to know why you ditched me for Kyle. We had plans, what the hell." Craig's exasperated tone plucked the last nerve you were holding onto, releasing the floodgates.
"Oh, fuck you! Don't act like you don't know how you've been acting! I wouldn't have ditched you if you hadn't been such an ass to me this whole fucking past month! Maybe, just maybe, I thought it felt nice to be cherished! To be put first! To have someone actually act like they care about me! And who cares if I don't reciprocate Kyle's feelings? I'll just have to try harder to because anyone would be better than spending time with you-" Hate-filled words expelled out, stabbing Craig each time. However, before you could continue, you felt yourself being pinned to the wall being cut off by something warm pressing against your lips.
Before you could fully register, the heat was removed, and instead moved onto your temple. Then to your forehead, nose, cheek, until they found their spot back onto your lips again. Your breath hitched, unable to believe what was happening. Finally, you gave into this comforting feeling and pressed into him. Loosening his grip, they slithered around your waist, pulling you closer to him. You wrapped your arms around his neck, wanting to be closer to him. You were getting intoxicated by his scent; overwhelmed by his actions.
You finally pulled away, looking into his eyes. "I'm sorry (Y/n), this past month has been a mess. I was so scared you'd find out how I felt that I tried pushing you away, which actually seemed to drive you into another's arms instead. Funny, huh?" He bitterly laughed, cupping your cheek with his hand.
You offered a goofy grin, kissing his hand. "You're such a big dummy. I'm sorry for leaving you for Kyle. I love you."
He smiled in return, landing the two of you onto the couch. "I love you too." He exhaled, before pulling you down on top of him, drowning into each other for the night.
