"Are you going to tell Bruno about going to Dallas?" Tamara asked as she moved her best friend's hair out of her face.

"If it comes up. But I don't need his approval to go visit someone who is going to be my boyfriend in a matter of hours...." she told Tamara.

"So you're going to go to Dallas for a rebound?" Tamara wondered. "I mean...that's like a lot..." Tamara said.

"He's not a rebound, Tam. I really do like him. He listens when I need to talk and he talks to me about how he feels and he's super talented and he's really good. He's going to make it. I know it. And if it doesn't...we'll just live normal. Like it's just a regular place. And I love that."

"You love that it's normal?" she asked. "What are you going to tell her parents? Do you think that they'll be okay with you being so far away?"

"Oh..." Naomi started. "I have no idea. I haven't really talked to them." she said standing up to look at herself hearing a knock at her door.

"Oh...who could that be?" Tamara asked opening the door seeing Naomi's parents standing at the door.

"Oh my gosh, my daughter looks so beautiful!" her mother exclaimed hugging Naomi. "Where's Bruno?" she asked letting go of her daughter a bit shocked that Bruno was nowhere in sight.

"Oh." Naomi said a bit shocked. "Umm. He'll be there. I mean..." she paused. "We'll walk the red carpet and everything. It's just traffic is so bad...like getting to him."

"Oh, Naomi...." her mother Norma responded hugging her again. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay, Mom." Naomi said stepping away from her mother. "I'm okay."

"I'll go as your date." her father Mike came into the room holding a banana in his hand.

"Thanks, dad. But we're okay. We're going together. We're still friends." she said. "I'm just glad you two are here..." she said hugging her parents."

"But tell them where you're going after..." Tamara said raising her eyebrow at her best friend.

"Oh my god! You are a bitch!" Naomi yelled laughing at her friend.

"I'm thinking of moving to Dallas." she told her parents.

"Not home?" Norma asked.

"No, mom. I need to get away. And I know some really great people there. I mean, it's not for sure or anything but. I'm going to go and see what I can do. There's a church that I found a Director of Adult and Youth Ministry. And I think it would be a good thing to do."

"When will you come and see us?" Mike asked.

"When I can. Holidays? I don't know. I'm not going tom...." she caught herself. "I'm not moving tomorrow."

"But what are you doing tomorrow?" Norma asked.

"I'm going to Dallas." she said like she was in trouble.

"Is there a boy?" Mike wondered.

"Yeah." she sad in the same voice.

"Aww....Naomi..." Norma answered a bit confused. "I'm so confused. You would never leave for a boy...."

"It's not just a boy, mom. And it's not just for him.....I need a change. I need to get away from all this. From all the LA stuff and how fast it is. It's just. I need a change. This would let me do that."

"You can get that in Napa, Nay..." Mike told her.

"I just....I'm not leaving forever." Naomi responded glancing out of the window. I need Bruno to be here...not that I need him..but...she thought to herself grabbing her shoes. "I'm ready."

"We'll be up waiting for you!" Mike said hugging his daughter.

"I'm so nervous...." she said starting to walk down the stairs of her apartment.

"Everyone else is..." Tamara said pausing. "I shouldn't say that should I?"

"No. Don't." Naomi answered hugging her friend getting into the car sliding to the middle feeling a body next to her.

"Hey..." Bruno said reaching for her hand.

"Oh my god...." she said sighing holding onto his hand.

"You look beautiful." he kissed her cheek.

"You look amazing too." she said holding onto his hand.

"I knew you wouldn't be able to make it there without someone with you." he told her.

"I would have been able to do it." she said letting go of his hand.

"Oh?" he asked turning to look at her. "You look awfully sweaty and anxious right now, Mims."

"Ugh. You're so right." she told him.

"How's Joseph?" he asked changing the subject quickly.

"He's fine." she shrugged.

"Are you nervous about the Super Bowl?" she asked.

"The weather, man. It looks fucking brutal. Come with to keep me warm?" he asked jokingly.

"No." she said seriously.

"Oh my god. I know." he said rolling his eyes.

"Hey, I wasn't even being sarcastic!" she said defensively taking a second to take a deep breath. "Can we not fight tonight? I just kind of want our last like...I mean...whatever...thing...to be good."

"Yeah. Tonight can be good, Mims." he said sliding away from her.

"Are you okay?" she asked hearing the change in his tone.

"Yeah." he shook his head in agreement.

"Brunooooo." she whined poking his side. "What's wrong?" he didn't look at her not talking.

"Damn. I knew traffic would be shit but...." he changed the subject again.

"You change the subject when you don't want to talk about something...if it's us...then whatever. Or another girl...I'm going to Dallas tomorrow to see Joseph."

"What?" he asked a bit confused.

"Yeah. I thought you would have found someone by now....it's been a few weeks..." she told him.

"That's not what was bothering me...but good to know." he answered.

"Your mom...." she said. "I'm sorry, Brunz." she said laying her head on his shoulder. He laid his head on hers trying not to cry. "She's there with you, you know that..." she said. "Everywhere." she said not moving from his shoulder sitting with him for a few minutes before saying anything else. "But I don't like your hair straight. I know I don't have a say or anything."

"It's a fucking pain in the ass." he told her. "The straightening it and everything..ugh." he groaned lifting his head not feeling nearly as awkward about their conversation after she sat with him for a little bit.

They continued to talk about everything that they hadn't talked about for the past two weeks. There was some type of comfort and routine about being in the car. And then the car stopped.

"Oh my god..." she said as the door opened and they stepped out of the black 4 door sedan.

"Just hold on, Naomi." he said kissing her cheek. "I've got you. Even if we aren't together. I've got you."
