Maggie had been gone for three weeks. All Bruno could think of was her. All he could think about was how she had said Don't forget me. How could he ever forget her? She would always be the person he would never get to spend the rest of his life with. She would always be with him. Her voice, her laugh, her strength, her being. It would always linger with him. Some days remembering those things would help him get through the day, other days even the thought of the first time they met paralyzed him. Today, he went back and forth between a paralyzed and pleasant state.
Three weeks after her passing her friends and family that she loved had come together to remember her where she had wanted to be since Bruno was in her life. She wanted to be in Los Angeles with him. It's too soon. She would tell him on the phone. We've only known each other for a few months. And you're not there a lot. Who would I talk to? Who would I lay on the couch with and watch TV with? She would ask him. He would tell her not to worry and that they would have time to be together when he was done with South America. We have plenty of time. He would laugh. It's just a few months Mags. We'll make it. Then you can come live with me. And lay on the beach and sleep with the dog and make me your cookies. Those were words he would replay in his paralyzed state. We have plenty of time. No we don't! She's gone! She's gone forever. I won't ever see her again. His thoughts wandered to his tour and his friends and family ever once in a while, but usually only when someone talked to him. "Bruno?" he heard Maggie's sister Claire ask.
"Yeah?" he snapped out of his world for a second. "I need to get some air...": he said to her excusing himself from the historic church that sat in the middle of downtown Los Angeles that they were holding the memorial. He got up careful not to have everyone notice he was gone. He opened the heavy wooden door carefully to not make too much noise. He looked out into the wide hallway seeing the bright white historic doors. He sat down on a bench leaning down burying his head in his hands. With no tears and no overwhelming emotion he sat there. There was no magical mystical moment. No angels, no stars, no bright lights or voices. It was him and that wide open historic hallway. Until he heard the click of high heels down the hallway. He looked up to see a girl with long brown hair with white ombre on the bottom half of her hair wearing a black and blue cotton dress with a black belt. He smiled at her and then lowered his head again.
"Oh, oh my gosh. I'm sorry. I'm so loud. I had no idea that there was something going on..." she said to him. "I didn't see it on the calendar." she told him.
"That's okay." he said to the girl.
"Well, you know..." the girl said sweetly almost trying to comfort Bruno. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit." she said with a smile.
"Thank you." he answered feeling the tears start to come again. Damnit. He thought to himself.
"How long had you two been together?" the girl asked. "If you don't mind telling me..."
"August." he answered.
"Was it an accident?" she asked him sitting down next to him.
"No. She was sick." he answered sniffing away the tears.
"I'm so sorry..." she said almost reaching for his hand.
"There is a time for everything, I guess." Bruno shrugged. "It just wasn't the time I thought it was going to be. I told her that we had plenty of time. I told her that we would have plenty of time to be together after I finished my tour...."
Of course he's in the industry. The girl thought. "You're right. a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die ... a time to weep and a time to laugh ... a time to mourn and a time to dance." the girl almost laughed.
"Do you work here?" he asked looking up at the girl.
"I'm an events coordinator." she told him. "But this is part- time. I'm going to finish seminary soon." she said with genuine happiness.
"Thank you for talking to me, sweetheart....." he said looking for her name.
"Naomi." she answered him with the same smile. "My name is Naomi Goodwin."
"Well thank you for talking to me, Naomi Goodwin. I think that I need to go and find the time to laugh." Bruno answered standing up.
"Just remember that weeping may endure for a night..." Naomi started.
"But joy comes in the morning." Bruno smiled at Naomi going back into the sanctuary.

Bruno lagged behind the large group of people who gathered to honor Maggie. He still wasn't sure what he was thinking, where he was going or what he was going to do. He had heard all the same things about Maggie. She was wonderful, she was so strong, she fought so hard, she lived an amazing life. The praise went on and on and on. The one thing that no one asked though, was how were they going to go on without her? For the short amount of time he was in her life, for only 4 months, she had left a mark on his heart and his soul. Instead of following his friends to their cars across the street he sat down on the sidewalk and reached for a cigarette. "Bruno?" he heard Maggie's sister Megan ask him. "I don't know how you're able to do it." she told him.
"I'm not." he answered. "I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know what she wanted or what I should do." he told her.
"She would have wanted you to do your best. And to smile. And to remember her. Not to forget her, but..." she started interuptted by his tears.
"That was the last thing she said to me, Megan. She said not to forget her." he said. "I'm sorry. I can't stop crying."
"No one can, Bruno." she told him reaching over to hug him. "It's going to take time. You were going to spend the holidays with her and take her to Hawaii weren't you?"
"Yeah. That was what I wanted to do." he said a bit confused.
"Then take her with you..." she said pointing to his heart and then reaching for her wrist to take off a light blue bracelet. "She gave this to me this summer. After one of her trips..." she said handing it to Bruno without tangling it. "She gave this to me when she went to the hospital. She said that it was a bracelet that Haleigh gave her right before she passed away. She told me a story about how the bracelet should go to someone who needs hope and love the most. Haleigh told her that she thought that it was her turn to have both of those. And she told me that she knew that I was going to have a hard time with whatever was going to happen...no matter what happened. So she thought I should get it. And now, I think you need it more than any of us right now..." she told him.
"She held this?" he asked her. "It was hers?" he asked like a child.
"Yes, Bruno. It might even have a little bit of her on there still." she answered.
"I'll keep it until I don't need it anymore..." he said slipping it on his hand.
"Come on, Brunz. Let's go eat something she would like..." Megan said to Bruno seeing him throw the cigarette to the side of the sidewalk.
"She would hate that I'm still smoking..." he said looking at the cigarette butt.
"I think that's the last thing she would be worrying about." Megan said walking with Bruno to the car.
"Hey Meg, did you see a girl in the lobby when we got there?" Bruno asked.
"No...." she answered a bit confused.
"Like with the two colored hair?" he questioned.
"I don't think there was anyone at the church except for the maintenance guy and the pastor who spoke for a second..."
"Then I must be going crazy. I talked to this girl named Naomi that said she was the event coordinator and she said some really good things..." Bruno said confused.
"Hmm." she thought.
"I might not have seen here, though...." Megan answered as confused as Bruno was.
