You are snuggled up on the couch reading your favorite book when you hear the front door open, and slam shut. Boone must be home. The Blue Jackets lost badly tonight, so you were expecting him to be upset.
Boone walks past you and into the kitchen. You hear him ruffling through the fridge, then the pop of a beer can. He must be taking the loss harder than you thought. You walk into the kitchen to see that he is sitting at the table with his head in his hands.
"Are you okay?" You ask quietly. He sighs and doesn't look up at you as he answers.
"Not really, Y/N."
"Do you want to talk about it?" You question.
"Not really, Y/N." He says a bit angrily this time.
"Okay, I'm sorry for trying to help." You tell him somewhat sarcastically, then go back to your spot on the couch and continue reading. A few minutes later, you watch as Boone stomps upstairs and slams the bedroom door shut. You sigh sadly, and decide to follow him upstairs.
You open the bedroom door to see that Boone is already in bed, only in his boxers. You get into your own pajamas and crawl into bed next to him. His back is towards you and he still hasn't said a word.
"Okay, if you don't want to talk about it, then we won't." You say to him and he finally turns to face you.
"Thank you." He says quietly.
"I just want to make you feel better." You whisper and he sighs.
"Well, you can't. No one can right now." He says.
"Can I at least try?" You ask, feeling your heart break at his words.
"I said I don't want to talk." He tells you gruffly.
"Fine, then I'll just do this." You say and wrap your arms around him. You cuddle your head into his neck and give him a soft peck. Slowly, he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you closer to him. You quietly cuddle for a few minutes and Boone relaxes.
"How do you do that?" He asks with a chuckle.
"Do what?" You question with your eyes closed, slowly drifting to sleep.
"The impossible." He answers and you furrow your eyebrows.
"What do you mean?"
"You can always extinguish my anger, even when I feel like punching a hole in the wall." He says, sounding stunned.
"Well, I don't know. I guess it's because I love you so much. I hate seeing you upset." You reply and he places a soft kiss on your head.
"I love you so much. I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier." He apologizes and you chuckle.
"That's okay, I know you were mad. That's behind us now. All that matters is that you are happy."
"You're an amazing cuddler." He states and you smile.
"And you're an amazing husband. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. We should get some sleep." You tell him.
"Okay, good night." He mumbles and holds you tighter against his body, never wanting to let go.
