Emma
"Wait, go back to the town." I told Koien as he drove.
He eyed me for a while, then realized the answer for himself. Silently, he turned the car around and drove back to the little town. He parked in the police department's parkinglot and went around to the other side of the car to get the door for me. I ducked my head out from the car roof as I got out, then undid the bow on the bonnet and threw it in the car. The edge of Koien's lips turned into a smirk.
I ignored and walked around him to the doors of the station. The men who worked the night shift had becomed acustomed to me by now, and let me walk to the elevator in peace. Koien stayed by my side the entire time once we reached the lower level. The trapped vampires didn't bother me as much as before. Their snarling didn't frighten me away.
When we reached Zero's cell he was sitting on the ground, his back leaned up against the wall near the bars. His head was hanging down low again and he smelled of fresh blood. Little trinklets of red ran down the wall from his back and wound their way through the hollow between the bricks. It was painful to see, because I knew his back must be in agnony and yet he leaned up against the wall.
"Emma." He muttered, his throat sounding dry.
"Hold on." I told him, instantly began pulling up my sleeves.
Zero tried to say something, but he was so parched that it came out as dry gasps. He couldn't speak. Just saying my name must have taken the last of his ability. I put my arm though the bars and held it out for him. He hesitantly approached it, shaking at he did so. It took him a while but he got the courage to bring it to his mouth and drink. I felt twin pieces break my skin and the hotness of his breath on my arm.
Koien stayed back, watching the entire time. His eyes looked as if they were about to drill into Zero, but he didn't make a single comment against him.
"Zero, that's enough." I told him calmly.
He remained a few seconds longer on my arm, then released me from his grasp. I pulled my arm back through the bars and looked at it. The marks were deep, but I think that was only because he hadn't been in full control of his senses.
"Move over then." Koien says and I move.
He has to bend down to reach Zero's level to allow him to drink from him. Zero can't even stand on his own or keep himself sitting up straight, that's why he's on the ground up against the wall. I wait in the background as Zero feeds off of Koien. After a few minutes, Koien decides he can't give any more and pulls away. Zero lets go, knowing he can't force the noble into handing over more blood than he already has.
"Let's go back to the Academy." Koien tells me dully.
"Alright." I reply, then talk to Zero."I'm close to finding something out, but I only have three days left. Do you think you can at least hang on for one or two more?" I ask him.
Zero tries to speak again, but his voice is too weak. He settles for nodding his head yes.
