On the road

Thursday, around noon

Emma

I leaned into Kaito's side, I was getting tired. He didn't seem to mind, it was more like he wanted me close. I began to play with the tips of my hair. The silver color was something I would have to get use to. Along with being a vampire.

I looked down at my ruined Cross Academy Day class uniform. Guess I would have to change to night class with all things considered. I closed my eyes and breathed out a long sigh, this wasn't going to be easy to explain to my step parents.

Maybe I could say that I dyed my hair white. Yeah, like that would work. They would just get even more upset. Trying to think of solutions bogged up my mind. I'd think of something later, right now I wanted to sleep.

On the road

Thursday afternoon

Kaito

I smiled as Emma leaned into my side more in her sleep.

"I thinks she's completely asleep, Jarred." I said."Now, there's a few questions I'd like to ask." I paused.

"Like what?" Jarred answered back.

"Like, why did Emma have an irregular heart beat?" I asked.

"Her heart was irregular?" Jarred asked confused as he looked straight in front of him.

I think I can answer that one for everybody. Kogeta cut into my mind and Jarred's. Just like Yuuki had problems with seeing images or feeling things from her past, Emma had her own unique symptoms of her vampirism coming back. The sealing doesn't last forever so eventually both girls would have turned into vampires. In Emma's case, it was her heart threatening to shut down on itself since vampire hearts don't beat. That was the cause of the irregular heart beat. Even if she hadn't been kidnapped and tortured, we would of had to turn her into a vampire to save her. Kogeta ended.

That would explain it. I thought. So, when I turned Emma into a vampire the irregular heart beat disappeared. I finished.

Exactly. Kogeta thought back.

It was certainly a relief that the irregular heart beat had been nothing.

Back at Cross Academy

Thursday night

Kaito

I picked Emma up and carried her into Moon dorm. Once I got to her room I layed her down on the bed and covered her up with a few blankets. I was still nervous to let her be by herself. I didn't want another hunter to come along and kidnap her.

"Come on, Kaito. We got to get to our classes." Toran said, standing at the doorway."She'll be there when we get back." he teased.

We had taken our time getting back to Cross Academy and had only arrived at the site by late evening. By the time I had settled Emma on her bed, it was time for classes. That left explaining the whole mess to the headmaster for later. I caught up to Toran, who had been the only person to stay behind to wait for me.

Very early Friday morning

Emma

I was still half-asleep when I woke up and I wanted to sleep more. The only problem was the back of my throat felt very dry. I had kept my eyes closed, trying my best to fall back asleep, but it wouldn't let me.
