Emma
The later in the day I woke with several goals in hand. First, I would ask Kaito about what the headmaster had said to him privately. Then I would go and visit my older brother and ask him about our parents. I sat up in bed and rubbed my eyes. I had completely forgotten that I had just collapsed in bed without bothering to change clothing or get under the covers. However, someone had been kind enough to lay a blanket on top of me so I wouldn't get cold. That would've been Kaito.
I got up and stretched and went over to the mirror to comb my long, pure white hair. It became silky smooth at the touch of the picks. I set the comb down after I ran it through once and then I went to go and find my shoes, as I had just discovered that Kaito must have taken them off as well. They were up against the end of the bed waiting for me and I went over and put them on.
After checking my appearance in the mirror I headed out of my room to join Kaito and those who were just about to head out to the Academy building. I had woken up in time to leave with everyone, which by my standards was a miracle. I found Toran, Arashi, Koien, and Raki all standing in the main lobby talking to eachother, waiting for the signal for us to go to class. Violet and Hana were off in a corner talking with other girls. Kaito and Kogeta were no where in sight, which made me think that maybe they were up to something with the other purebloods, since I didn't see Kaname or Yuuki here either.
Jarred was present however, but he kept to the center of his own group. Although I had many things I wanted to ask him, I would do it later when we weren't pressured by classes and other vampires.
"So they kicked you out to?" Toran asked, his voice full of his normal sarcasim.
This was the Toran I knew from when I first met him, and it made me more relaxed.
"All the purebloods except for you and your brother are gathered somewhere talking privately. We don't even know where they've gone off to." He continued, filling me in on what I missed since Kogeta wasn't here.
"Your brother went to?" I asked, but it sounded like a statement.
"Yeah, he ran off with them for some reason or other. It's making a lot of the vampires around here edgy with the purebloods gone." Toran replied.
"That's why they left you and your brother behind----to calm everyone's nerves." Arashi added, speaking to me.
"I'm not so sure about that, I'm fairly new at this whole pureblood thing and I hardly know my own brother. I was young when we were together, so the memories are all fuzzy." I admitted, shrugging.
"That's okay, I think your doing wonderfully." Koien commented, then added nervously."If I may be so bold." before the other vampires could look at him questioningly.
It was considered taboo to hit on another pureblood's mate, especially if she was a pureblood herself and the one with the crush was only of noble birth.
"Anyways, this'll be your first time walking out with us to the main building, won't it?" Toran said, slightly teasing me.
"That's right!" I muttered out loud.
The truth was I hadn't even thought of that. I was too worried wondering what Kaito was doing. Toran just grinned for being able to pull one over on me.
Thinking back to when I was human earlier this year, I remembered that when I was on the sidelines all the fan girls screamed---even for the girl nightclass students. Going down the hallway earlier today had been unexpected to them, so there hadn't been a full crowd cheering or screaming. I was sure rumors of a new nightclass student with silvery, pure white hair were traveling around already. I could feel the blood gathering in my cheeks. Suddenly I was very nervous to walk in front of all those people.
"Aw, come on! You're not frightened of fighting a half crazed psycopath girl, but of a bunch of humans?" Toran said sarcastically, then tsked."Emma, I thought you were stronger than that."
"He is right, you know." Arashi added when I didn't speak.
"Hey, it's okay. We can keep them back for you. We are noble vampires who are loyal to Kaito and you so it's our job." Koien said casually.
Toran grinned at his words and I really wondered if he would rather watch me run from the swarm of fan girls than keep them back. Arashi elbowed him in the side, causing Toran to mutter 'ow ow ow ow ow' to himself before the wound healed on its own. Their cheerfulness reminded me of the days when I was a perfect and it made me smile. Maybe things could go back to those happy days.
Suddenly, people began moving around and getting in order. Kaname Kuran's group always went first since they were the first group of vampires ever accepted here. They moved to the front of the room at the doors. Since Kaito's and Jarred's groups had both came to Cross Academy at the same time (when the new academy had been opened, which made it their first year here) it was always a toss up on who ever wanted to go first. This time Jarred's group decided to go second and they moved in behind Kaname's. Kaito and my group were left to go last. I noticed that in Kaname's group, Ichijo (Kaname's assistant) was taking care of the orders with thier pureblood gone.
The doors opened for us and we were given the clear to start walking.
We made our long journey down the path to the gates at human pace, making it unbearably boring as the cobblestone path was long. It was all to make sure that the humans couldn't see the comings and goings of the vampires inside the Moon Dorm. Inside the dorm, vampires were free to let their true natures out and didn't have to put up a disguise for the fleshlings.
When we finally did make it to the gate, I noticed on the other side their was the usual huge turn-out of fan girls. They wailed and screamed when the gates opened. We walked on without stopping through them and I gave a quick deep breath of air and tried to look casual as we walked passed them. I looked around at the crowd, trying to spot a particular person and unlike the other vampires who were doing it to send the girls wild. My friend Risa wasn't among the girls. I was sure since I had spotted her in the hallway earlier and their had been a hint of recognition that she would turn up to make sure it was me.
My eyes caught another persons however, who I hadn't expected to see. Zero stood off to the side, but in front of the girls to keep them back. His hands were in his pockets. our eyes locked for a while. Mine searching for anger or hate in them, but there was none. Zero's eyes were neither angry, sad, hateful, happy, or surprised. They kept a neutral tone to them, but I didn't feel like he was telling me I wasn't welcome or that he was deep in thought about the past.
He looked at me like he was a friend who was supporting me, even if it wasn't the choice he would've made. I gave him a hint of a smile---in friendship---and looked away, hoping that he got that I felt the same way. That we were both neutral, not best friends or enemies. I looked ahead and focused on the path in front of me.
