Forgiveness

When I sat in Umbridge's dull classes and she would look at me with her bulging eyes, I could see the fire in them, and I knew that she knew. I guess I should have been frightened by this, but all I felt was something stirring in my stomach, it didn't take long for me to realise that it was a strong emotion: anticipation.

I hadn't been able to visit Unicorn since his... accident. As it turns out Professor Grubbly-Plank is as possessive of her animal patients as Madame Promfrey and her human patients. At first I was annoyed by this, but then it felt good to know that Unicorn was in caring hands.

Hermione knows that I am just bursting to get my revenge, so she's keeping a careful eye on me - annoying? Yes. But even I think it's nessasary, because I feel as though... I've just never felt anger like this before, and it's frightening for even me.

Harry didn't feel anger, though. But I guess that was because he was too busy feeling satisfaction - why shouldn't he? He succesfully taught Neville how to disarm Hermione, and Parvati to reduct a table to dust. He was doing something to be satisfied about. Me on the the other hand; well, I've already learned the things Harry is teaching us.

Quidditch practices were slowly turning from disastors, to complete hoplessness. Ron was pathetic-

"You know that's not very nice, right?" Dani told me conversationally as we walked.

"Well, he is," I said, crossing my arms in annoyance. "I wanted Alicia Spinnet to be my keeper, but no."

I kicked the wall and was rewarded with a throbbing toe.

"But he's trying," Dani pointed out.

"No he isn't," I said, miffed about hurting my toe. "He's sulking and fumbling and just being a total pain in the -"

"Drama on the Quidditch field, Girlfriend?" said a very charming voice behind me.

Dani tutted loudly and glanced behind us in annoyance. I looked back and seen Mike carrying a school bag and would have looked normal if it wasn't for him being soaked from head to toe.

"I'll see you later, Nixie," Dani said, then walked away without saying a word to Mike.

I turned to Mike, feeling red in the face. It was always awkward for Mike and my friends to see eachother, it was like they shouldn't belong in the same world - Mike could be in my boyfriend world and the others could be in my complicated world.

I knew Mike was disturbed by the coldness they were showing him - no one disliked him on sight except them. Usually, the only people who didn't like him were the girls he dumped and the boys whose girlfriends he dumped. But what I loved about Mike was, he never showed any dislike back to them.

"You are sure to loose," Mike said, throwing his arms over my shoulder as we walked; which would have been a comforting geasture if it wasn't for his arm wetting me completely. "Ravenclaw is sure to have the cup."

"No way," I said, ducking out from under his arm. "Ravenclaws might have good chasers, but we do too; and Gryffindors have spirit."

"And bravery and honor and all that other rubish," Mike said, rolling his eyes. "Sure, sure. I'll be sure to hear this speech after Ravenclaw wins."

I shot him an annoyed look. "Whatever. Why are you all wet?"

Mike looked down at himself like he just realised he was. "I had Care of Magical Creatures just now. Why?"

"What do you mean why?" I demanded. "I don't normally see people drenched in water, that's why!"

Mike smirked at me, like he somehow got satisfaction about annoying me. Golly, I hate that smirk.
