"I wonder why you mean so much to them. They'd stop at nothing to find you."

"..."

"Hm? What's wrong? Virus got your tongue?" She could hear a cackle coming from nearby. "No matter. Soon, you wouldn't need a tongue, or the rest of that corpse for that matter." There was a hiss from above her. "I look forward to seeing what they'll do."

~~~~~
"Jin! Over here!"
The black and white haired man nodded and took his seat beside the brunette. "Ban, why the early call?"
"Well, we're worried about you."
"We?"
"Ban! Jin!" Ami's voice rang clear across the room. "We've ordered for you two too."
"Sandwiches with the crispiest fries!" Kazu chuckled as he took a seat. "Oh, and the darkest, blackest coffee ever for Jin."
"What's this about?" However nice it may be, this is not something they would usually do for him. He knew, from the very beginning, that they were all best friends. He had simply intruded for a short while due to... circumstances.
Ban smiled at his confusion. "We thought you could use the company. It's been about five months since Eva..."
Right. They're the type to worry almost too much. He couldn't really retort. After all, he was the same way.
"We can't exactly make you breakfast, or help you work, or do any of the things she does for you, but..."
"We just want you to know, you're not alone in this. We're all pissed that they took Eva from us, and a whole lot of other children. So if you need to talk, we'll all be there for you."
Red eyes shifted between the woman and her boyfriend. Finally, his gaze fell on to the glasses-wearing brunette. "I appreciate your concern, but-"
"No. No 'but's." Ban cut off. "We're having breakfast together today, and if you try to escape, we'll barge in on you for dinner."
"If you leave now, no one will drink your coffee." Kazu pointed out. "You're the only one here who drinks coffee without milk or sugar."
Ami gave him a smile. "In any case, I'm sure Eva wouldn't want us to let you deal with these problems on your own. We're friends, Jin. You don't always have to be the sacrifice in everything."
Sacrifice? Is that how they see it? "I suppose you three plan to gang up on me until I agree."
"We do."
"Then, I have no choice." A small smile appeared on his face. "I'll be leaning on you three for now."
The trio exchanged smiles, which only got wider when their food arrived. Kazu immediately took a slice. "Alright then, let's dig in!"
~~~~~

The brunette woke up to the smell of tea. She found herself on a soft, leather couch in what appeared to be a-

"You up? Good." A dark blue haired woman came in and set a tray on the table beside her. "You can get yourself cleaned up upstairs. The pretty boy went in half an hour ago, so he should be done by now."

"Will you please stop calling him 'pretty boy'?" Another woman sighed from a table away. "Seriously, it was funny at first, but it's been used too many times last night."

"Could you blame me? His hair is the definition of pretty. I'm sure that you with black hair would be absolutely gorgeous too."

Hana could've sworn she heard Mavis mutter something, but with her back facing her, it was hard to tell. With only a curt nod, she headed up to see her friend.

When she came in, the boy's back was facing her. She could clearly see his hair tied up in a messy ponytail, perhaps to prevent it from getting wet in the bath. It was... an interesting sight.

"Ah, Hana." He smiled when he noticed her presence. "Are you feeling better?"

"Huh?"

"You were breathing hard, and passed out as soon as we reached the door. Does your chest still hurt? Or any other part of your body?"

She shook her head. "No, I'm fine. Thanks." She then frowned. "What about you? I'm sorry for troubling you with that, but did you get a chance to talk to her?"

His smile seemed to widen. "I did. We talked so much that we lost track of time. Before we knew it, the sun was rising."

"You didn't get any sleep?"

"No, but my head is clearer than ever."

She finally returned his smile. "I'm glad then. I hope things will go well for you two from here on out."

"Yes, well..." He couldn't help the sigh escaping his lips. "She still has to stay hidden until the World Sabers are taken down. Or at the very least, until we save Eva-san. Right now, there's just too many threats around."

She walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "It'll work out. With one of the higher ranked members in our grasps, I'm sure we can squeeze out very valuable information. And the more valuable the information-"

"The faster this operation could go." He nodded. "Agreed. We have to keep doing our best."

"Takuya-san said that interrogations would start after lunch. If things go well, we won't have to wait long."

"In that case, you should hurry and take a shower." He gave a light chuckle. "That's what you came up here to do in the first place, right?"

Her eyes widened slightly. "Oh, right. I'll do that then. Don't leave without me."

"Wouldn't think of it."

He went downstairs as she headed into the shower. He found his- currently blue haired- sister smiling up at him.

She made a gesture with her eyes. "So then...?"

"We talked a little, is all." He shrugged. "She was worried she took up the time for our talk when she fainted, but I reassured her. Then we talked about the time for the interrogations."

She didn't seem pleased. "You know, if I had known that LBX war school would've made their kids this uptight, I never would've sent you there."

"What?"

She rolled her eyes. "You're young, Murakun. Don't go around only talking about the battles ahead. You need to enjoy your present too! Even I had my own little scandals in the police academy." She winked playfully.

"That's unprofessional."

"I was 15!" She gave him a pointed look. "And you are now too! There's obviously more going on between you and Hanabi, so you should go for it while you have the chance!" She sighed. "Believe me, you'll regret it if you lose her before you tell her."

He knew better than to push that last bit. Still, "I'll admit, there is something going on between us, but we haven't exactly figured out what yet. Yes, we've gone on a date... Maybe several, if you count the times when we simply accompany each other in doing things, but... I don't think we could really call ourselves a couple. Not when we're both so focused on... everything."

The woman nodded, her head suddenly feeling heavy on her neck. "I knew you were going to say that. Well, if you ever need any tips to impress a girl, you know where to find me."

"I don't think any of your ideas would be applicable, though."

"Oh? Why not?"

He smiled. "Because she isn't just any other girl."
