BAST
Bast or Bastet is the egyptian goddess and protector of cats. Before the unification of the egyptian culture, she was also the goddess of warfare for the people from Lower Egypt. The Upper Egypt paralell goddess was Sekhmet, the lioness. Often, people would mistake Bast with Sekhmet and treat them as if they were only one goddess. She was also depicted as the goddess of protection against contagious diseases and evil spirits. Later when the Greek Empire occupied ancient Egypt, they changed her into a goddess of the moon.
As a protector for Lower Egypt, she was also seen as defender of the pharaoh, consequently of the chief god Ra. Along with other lioness godesses she has been depicted as the Eye of Ra. In that era she had a lot of influence as a warrior goddess, known then as Bast, but after the unification Sekhmet became more and more popular and, changing her name to Bastet, she was depicted as a protector goddess of cats.
Her name became associated with the lavish jars in which Egyptians stored their perfume. Bastet thus gained popularity as the goddess of perfumes, earning the title of "perfumed protector". In connection with this, when Anubis became the god of embalming, Bastet came to be regarded as his wife for a short period of time (a/n, this is not confirmed by sources but it's mentioned a lot of times so,,, maybe it's true? just a curiosity).
As the Eye of Ra, she had the mision to fight Apep in order to prevent the end of the world as he wanted to swallow the sun. In some myths they said they never stopped fighting but in others Bast eventually kills Apep.
