Chapter 37 - Prom Night

Eleanor's P.O.V.

It was now Friday which meant that it was time for the freshman/sophomore prom. Yesterday I'd went shopping for a dress together with my mom. I tried on so many dresses before I chose a short sky blue dress. It was sheer in the top and had loads of beaded details and was so pretty (See picture above). Finn had asked me yesterday which color my dress was so that he could get a matching tie and today was the big day. I had just finished getting ready and I was wearing the dress together with a pair of silver colored low block heel sandals since I wanted to be able to walk and dance all night. I had done my makeup pretty simple but added some pastel blue eyeshadow to match the dress and then just some light pink lips. My hair was down and curly but I had made two braids on each side of my head that I had pinned back like a braid crown around my head as a detail. All of a sudden the doorbell went off and I knew it was Finn who was coming to pick me up. He had talked Nick into being our driver tonight. I walked down the stairs and heard the voices of my parents and Finn.

"You look really handsome Finn" My mom said.

"Thank you, where's Ellie?" Finn said.

"She's upstairs but she should be down in any second" My dad said.

I then arrived in the hall and got eyecontact with Finn. As he saw me he widened his eyes and his jaw dropped. I felt my cheeks beginning to heat up.

"Well here she is!" My dad said and chuckled.

"You look gorgeous honey" My mom said and smiled.

"Thanks mom" I said and smiled before I turned to face Finn "H-hi Finn"

"Hi El, you look so beautiful" He said and smiled.

"T-thanks" I said and smiled.

"Here, this is for you" He then said and opened a box in his hand.

I looked at the box which revealed a beautiful corsage that was made of white roses and decorated with a light blue ribbon to match my dress.

"It's so pretty" I said as I stretched out my arm and Finn picked up the corsage and tied it around my hand.

"We have to take some pictures before you leave!" My mom said as she grabbed her iphone.

She told us to walk outside and me and Finn stood beside eachother infront of the hedge. We posed and mom took some pictures before we had to leave for the dance.

"Bring her home by latest midnight Finn" My dad said.

"I promise sir" Finn said.

We then walked over to the car and sat down together in the back seat.

"Well that took ages" Nick said as he began to drive away.

"You can blame my mom, she wanted like hundreds of pictures before she was happy" I said and chuckled.

Nick chuckled too and the ride to school went pretty fast. After we'd said goodbye to Nick we walked into the gym and was greeted by Maya, Hailey, Sam and Josh. Everyone looked so good and the girls had gone for short dresses just like me.

"Let's dance guys!" Maya exclaimed as she pulled Sam to the dance floor.

Me, Finn, Hailey and Josh followed them and we began to dance together to the party music that was playing and had such a good time. We also took some group photos in the photo booth that where set up in a corner of the gym. The whole evening was just amazing and I laughed so much. At the moment me and Finn where sitting at a table and drinking some soda drink that where being served at the dance. The others where somewhere else so we just sat there and talked. In that moment Perfect by Ed Sheeran started to play.

"Let's slow things down abit so grab someone you like and join us on the dance floor" The DJ said.

I looked over at Finn who stood up from his chair.

"May I have this dance?" He asked as he stretched out his hand.

"Yes you may" I said and smiled as I took his hand and stood up.

Finn led me to the dance floor and then let go of my hand. He put his hands on my waist and I placed my arms around his neck. He pulled me closer and we started to sway along to the music. I looked into Finn's eyes and our previous slowdance in the recordstore played in my head. Even though it was a nice dance it could never beat this one. With the lights and all the other couples dancing around us it just felt magical. Finn, who is much taller than me, looked down at me with a big smile on his lips. I smiled back before tilting my head abit down so that my forehead touched Finn's forehead.

After the slow dance a fast song came on again and we began to dance around more silly but still holding eachothers hands. When the dance ended at 11 pm we met Nick outside of the gym who where picking us up. He dropped me of first at my house and Finn walked me to the door and we shared a long and tight hug before he walked back to the car.

Once I had washed off my makeup and changed into my pajamas I crawled into bed with my phone. I saw that Finn had posted a picture on instagram. It was one of the group photos that we took with the others at the dance in which he had tagged all five of us. He had captioned it: Prom 2k18 with the crew was a blast 🙌🏻

I liked his picture before posting my own photo. It was one of the photos of me and Finn that my mom took of us before we left for the dance. I tagged Finn and captioned it: Prom 2018 with this boy was one to remember ❤️

I smiled for myself before posting it and almost immidiately Finn liked it. I looked through the comments that came in and people wrote everything from "I ship!" to "you're so lucky" but of course there where also some comments who where not that nice but I didn't let them get to me and ruin this perfect night.
