Chapter 4 - Cafeteria Chats

Finn's P.O.V.

At lunch I sat with Sam and Josh as usually when Maya and Hailey approached us.

"Hey guys" Maya said as the two of them sat down at our table.

"Maya how's your holiday's been?" Sam exclaimed as he saw her.

"It was amazing" Maya replied.

Sam and Maya has the weirdest relationship. They always flirts with eachother and it's pretty obvious that they like eachother but they've never ever talked about their feelings and officially got together. Josh and Hailey on the other hand, they've been dating for a couple of months. We've known the girls since middle school and they're really cool.

"How's your first day back been so far?" Josh said to the girls.

"It's been okay, how about you three?" Hailey replied.

"Well it's been okay, you should have heard what Mr Jones said to Finn in science though" Josh said and chuckled.

"Seriously dude? It was not funny, it was embarrassing" I said.

"It was!" Josh said as he began to tell the girls what happened.

Both of them began to laugh and Maya looked over at me.

"Well that's the good old Mr Jones that we all know" She said and chuckled.

I sighted and looked around the cafeteria. A few tables away I spotted the new girl Ellie. She was sitting all alone and reading a book as she ate her food. I thought back to our conversation in the hallway. She wasn't like the other girls, that's for sure, and she had a cute british accent just like Millie.

"Earth to Finn, are you listening!" My thought where suddenly interrupted by Josh voice.

"Huh yeah what is it?" I said as I looked back at all of them.

"You spaced out dude" Josh said.

"I did?" I said.

"Yeah, you where staring at that girl over there. Who is she? I've never seen her around before" Maya said.

"Her name is Ellie and she's new here" I said.

"And she's Finn's partner for our english project we're going to do this next month" Sam added.

"Oh..." Maya said and nodded.

"You should have seen what happened in class when Mrs Gardner told everyone to pick a partner of the opposite gender. Of course all of the girls runs over to Finn's desk but he pushed past them all and walked over and asked the new girl" Sam said.

"Yeah because she wasn't all over me like everyone else. If I'm going to work with someone for a month I'm happy it will be with someone who don't know who I am and are all over me" I said.

"What makes you think she doesn't know who you are?" Maya said.

"Well she didn't run over to me like the others and when I talked to her she was calm, I mean she did stutter abit but I think she's a shy person all around so" I said.

"She can still know who you are though, because like if you've never heard of Stranger Things you must have lived under a rock the past two years" Hailey said and chuckled.

"Yeah she's right, even people who haven't seen it has still heard about it so" Josh said.

We then finished our food and walked to our next class. It was now 4 pm and school was just over. I walked to the entrence of the school and noticed Ellie by the doors.

"Hey Ellie! You ready to begin working on the project?" I said as I approached her.

"Yeah" She said and smiled.

"Okay so where are we heading?" I asked as we walked outside together.

"Uhm... I don't know, I mean, I've only been in this town for three days" She said.

"We could go to Daniella's, it's a café which is only about 10 minutes from here" I said.

"Okay sure that sounds great" She said.

We walked to Daniella's in silence and when we arrived there we ordered ourselves some drinks and I pulled out a bill to pay for them.

"You don't have to do that Finn, I can pay for my own drink" Ellie said.

"Well I want too, let this be my way of saying welcome to Vancouver!" I said and smiled.

"Oh Okay, thank you" She said and smiled.

I handed the barista girl the bill and she handed us our drinks. We sat down at a table in the corner and just as we had sat down, Ellie's phone went off.

"Is it okay if I take this?" She said as she looked at her phone.

"Yeah of course" I said.

"It won't take long, I promise" She said as she answered the call "Hey girl!" She then said and sounded very happy.
