Chapter 11 - Dinner With The Wolfhard's

Eleanor's P.O.V.

Here I was, sitting on Finn Wolfhards bed in his own room in his family's house. A month ago I would have only dreamed of this and now on the black desk chair at the desk next to the bed he's sitting, full on concentrating on typing something on his laptop. I smiled for myself. We'd been studying for almost 2 hours now and it was getting late. What I had said earlier about not being able to be at my house was kind of a lie, I mean we do have some boxes that's still not fully unpacked but that doesn't have to mean we couldn't go there, I just really wanted to go to his house. And also, I've never bought a boy home before so the thought of it made me nervous. I've got alot of embarrassing stuff in my room and I don't know how my parents would react to seeing a boy in my room, especially not dad.

"What do you think of this paragraph that I just wrote? Is it a good explanation to finish it all up with?.... Ellie? Hello?" I suddenly heard Finn say as he waved his hand infront of me.

I got out of my thoughts and looked over at him.

"Huh what is it?" I said.

"Are you okay you totally spaced out?" He said.

"Y-yeah I'm fine" I said.

"Okay then can you read through my paragraph and see if it's good?" He asked.

"Sure" I said and nodded as he handed me his laptop.

I began to read it and a few minutes later the door opened and in came a woman.

"I'm home now honey so dinner will be ready in 30 minutes" She said to Finn before she noticed me "Oh hey there, who's your friend Finn? I've never seen her before" She said and smiled.

"Hey mom, this is Eleanor. She moved here a month ago and she's my english partner" Finn said and smiled.

"Oh that's lovely" She said and smiled.

"Yeah, nice to meet you Mrs Wolfhard" I said and gave her a smile.

"It's very nice to meet you too Eleanor and please call me Mary" She said.

"Okay... it's nice to meet you Mary " I said.

"Will you be staying for dinner Eleanor?" She said.

"Um, I don't know. I mean... we need to finish the project before I can leave so" I said.

"Well you're welcome to eat with us if you want, there's enough of food for one extra person" She said and smiled.

"Okay, thank you" I said.

"I'll let you two continue now" She said before walking out again.

I turned to Finn.

"I'm sorry about her, mom's you know" He said and sighed.

"Don't be, she was really nice" I said and smiled "Anyways, what you wrote what was perfect!"

I texted my mom that I'd eat at a friends house and we then continued with our work. Abit later we finished our project and it was time for dinner. We sat around the dining table together with Finn's parents and his brother Nick. I sat there quietly and ate as the other's where talking.

"So where are you from Eleanor? Your accent doesn't sound canadian at all" Finn's mom said and looked over at me.

"Uhm no, I'm from England and a little seaside town called Brighton" I said.

"Oh your british, that's very lovely" She said and smiled.

"Yeah" I said as I took a bite of my food. "This is delicious Mrs Wolfha.. I mean Mary" I said and smiled.

"Thank you Eleanor" She replied and smiled back at me.

Once we finished dinner it was time for me to head home.

"I'll walk you to the subway station" Finn said as I tied my converse shoes.

"You don't have too..." I said.

"So you know the way to the station from here after only walking from there once earlier today and won't get lost?" He said and winked.

"Okay, you've got a point in that, plus I'd be really nice with some company" I said and chuckled

"Let's go then" He said as he quickly grabbed his own shoes and jacket and put them on.

We began walking down the streets and talked about how nice it is that we're done with our project. As we arrived at the Subway station the entrence was a staircase that led down under the ground. Finn jumped onto the railing and slid down the stairs. I watched him reach the end of the staircase before turning around to look up at me.

"Your turn!" He said and grinned widely.

"What? I... I can't do that... I'll probably fall of because I'm so clumsy and..." I began.

"Come on Ellie! It's so much fun and you won't fall off, I promise" He said.

"Okay" I said as I walked over to the railing.

I held onto the wall as I sat down sideways on the railing.

"And now just slowly move forward so you can slide down" Finn shouted from the bottom of the staircase.

I took a deep breath before moving forward and began to slide down.

"Ahhhhh!!!!" I screamed as it went faster and faster.

Finn laughed as he watched me. As I reached the bottom I flew off the railing as it ended and as my clumsy self, I lost my balance as my feet touched the ground and I flew forwards and right into Finn. I closed my eyes and screamed. I heard another small scream and a loud bang, here comes the ground, I thought for myself but surprisingly what I landed on was much more soft than the ground. I slowly opened my eyes to see that I was laying ontop of Finn, who had fallen backwards as I fell into him.

"Well I guess you need to practise the landings but other than that, it went great!" Finn said and chuckled as he lay underneith me.

I blushed and quickly sat up and got off Finn, who followed my movements and sat up as well.

"I-I'm so sorry, I'm always so clumsy. Are you okay?" I asked him worriedly.

"It's okay and I'm fine. I'm just glad I could catch you and prevent you from getting hurt. But other than the ending, it was fun to slide on the railing right" he said and smiled.

"Yeah, it was pretty fun" I said and gave him a shy little smile as he stood up.

He then looked back down at me and stretched his hand out to help me up. I took his hand and stood up as well.

"Well, your train leaves in 3 minutes so you better go through the barriers so you don't miss it" He said.

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye Finn" I said.

"Goodbye Ellie" He said.

I ran towards the barriers and got through them before looking back at Finn who where watching me. As he noticed that I had turned around a smile grew on his lips and he raised his hand and waved. I smiled and waved back before turning around again and running down the escalator. As I sat down on the train I couldn't help about feeling abit embarrassed by what happened. Why do you always have to be so clumsy Ellie, especially around cute boys.

Since Finn's mom's name is unknown I'll call her Susan in this story so you all know. It was the first mom sounding name I could think of so yeah 😜

UPDATE: Hello it's now May 13th and I found out that Finn's mom's real name is Mary thanks to a comment by Finn's co-star Brooklyn from his new movie The Turning under his Mother's day post on Instagram 🙈 Thanks for commenting that Brooklyn!
