Josh
Trigger Warning: Use of transphobic slurs, including the T-Slur
I woke up to Aiden throwing a pillow at my face.
"We got to get ready for school." Great school, just what I wanted to deal with, I thought. I take the clothes that Aiden hands me and walk into the bathroom, I managed to forget to grab clothes when I left my house. The outfit consists of a navy blue floral button down and ripped skinny jeans that I paired with my black vans. I look in the mirror and actually feel okay, for once I recognize the mysterious person in the mirror as me. School proceeded as normal, the same people...the same insults. I've nearly become accustomed to it. Aiden and I part our ways as I head to my psychology course. Class drags on as normal until, "Everyone please pick a partner for the upcoming research assignment." I look around for a partner and see that everyone is already paired up. "Jordan still doesn't have a partner, who will be her partner?" My stomach plunges too my toes, my breath is quick and heavy.
"It's uh Josh and he pronouns please." I managed to stumble out. My teacher mumbles an aspirated okay and moves on to explain the assignment. We have to pick a mental illness and learn the effects on the mind and brain as a whole. Jayden slams his books down next to me, of course he has to be my partner. "We should do whatever mental illness makes you think your a boy. Isn't it called something like tranny disorder?" My body rushed with adrenaline, my breath hot. He continues, "You do know biology right, or are trannies that stupid to think they can just change their bodies like that?", he then leans over to his friend and says "I can't believe I have to work with the it." This is followed by a laugh and "Hopefully whatever it has isn't contagious!" I want to sink further into my chair and just disappear.
