Training days go by slowly, since girls and boys train at different times I rarely get to see Tobias. I sigh and glance at the clock's red illuminated numbers. It's only noon, although it feels like an eternity when I'm not with Tobias.
It's only been a few days, and Christina and I aren't on shift to train the troops today. I glance over at her, she is perched on the end of her bed, wrinkling the covers in between her fingers and straightening them out again. I wish there was something better to do other than sit around, but the shops are all closed this week due to training.
"Let's go somewhere," Christina suggests, standing up from the bed she was perched on earlier. She gives me one of her looks that normally means 'let's take an adventure' before grabbing my arm and yanking me up from my bed, but instead I fall to the ground.
I wrap my fingers around the foot of the bed frame and cling to it. Christina readjusts her grip my ankles and starts tugging at them. "Never!" I laugh, being difficult is fun. Christina pulls harder on my ankles when I get an idea. "Hey Chris, do you really think you can get me off of here?" I challange, glancing back at her.
"Yes, I do, stumpy legs." She laughs, pulling harder at my ankles. I start loosening my grip, my fingertips barely grazing the cold metal.
"Come on, is that all you've got?" I tease, I turn my head to see Christina smirking. She leans back, pulling even harder at my ankles. I let my fingers slip off from the bed frame, causing Christina to fly backwards. She lands on the floor with a thud and groans. I try to stifle a laugh, but it comes out strangled and odd.
"That wasn't very nice," She grimaces, rubbing the back of her head, where I would assume she hit it from falling.
"Oh come on, Chris. Man up!" I tease, pulling myself off the ground. She rolls her eyes as I walk over to her, nudging her gently in the side with my foot. I offer her my hand to help her up, which she takes, but instead of me helping her up, she pulls me down.
"No, you man up." she says as I groan. We both stand up, keeping our distance from each other, just to make sure neither of us is going to pull something on the other. We both laugh before deciding that we should go do something productive.
Christina pulls the door open,
I'm about to say something, but Matthew's voice on the intercom interrupts me. "All troops deploy to you're assigned stations. I repeat, all troops deploy to you're assigned stations. This is not a drill. I repeat this is not a drill." HIs voice echoes a few times before it returns to silence. I hear Christina curse underneath her breath.
Complete panic has arisen in the compound by the time we have all reached our assigned stations. Christina and I begin taking roll call at our station. She rambles off the first few names before it's my turn. I call out a few vaguely familiar names before I reach one that I know.
"Annalise Eaton?" The small crowd in front of us remains silent. "Annalise Eaton." I repeat, hoping that maybe she didn't hear me the first time. The crowd remains silent again. Where could she be? I saw her a few minute before the attack, where is she now?
I feel a frown of disappointment form on my lips as I mark of off as unaccounted for. I sigh and call off the last few names. Annalise was the only one missing of our troop, and I'm worried.
Our troops move out, one by one, to their assigned positions. Christina and I lead our troop to the back exit of the compound, moving as quickly as we can. I didn't notice the nerves fluttering in my stomach until now. I take a deep breath as if it would allow me to exhale them with a long, shaky breath. I hear shouts in the distance, their voices barely audible. I open the back door, aiming my gun, ready to fire. My eyes adjust to the brightness and I can see no one, I can only hear an all too familiar voice roaring orders.
“You all know the plan!” He yells, his voice stiff and firm.
“Sir, yes Sir!” Their troops call back in unison, their voices are magnified by the hills.
I reach slowly for my walkie-talkie and hold down the button that allows me to speak. “Troop leader Prior here, do you copy?”
“Read you loud and clear, Prior,” A familiar voice—Amar's—says in a hushed voice. “What's your status?”
“Factionless troops on the South end of the building, just over the hills. We don't have a visual, but we can hear them.” I say, letting the door close gently and walking back over to my troop.
“Ready your troops, Prior, they'll be here any minute. You know the plan.” Amar answers through the walkie-talkie. I feel my expression form into a frown.
“Yes sir.” I reply weakly, sliding the walkie-talkie back onto my belt.
Christina gives me a sympathetic look, though she doesn't know what's going on. “You okay?”
“Just remember after this that you're my best friend and always be, okay?” I say, biting back a sob.
“Tris, what are you doing?” She says as I reach for the door. The voices of the troops come closer, and I ready myself for what's about to happen.
“Christina, you'll do a great job leading this troop.” I say, nch placing my hand on the cold metal of the lever of the door. I let my fingers graze across it's odd shape as a tear drips onto it. “Do me proud.” I say, half smiling until I push the lever and throw myself outside.
“Tris! What the hell are you doing?” Christina sobs, tears cascading down her face.
“Saving you.” I look back and let my fingers graze up against the edge of the door a final time before I let the door slip closed. I hear Christina let out a strangled sob as I start to run towards the troops. My heart pounding in my chest and my feet on the ground, I know this might be the end.

IMPORTANT MUST READ
Hey guys! Sorry for not updating, between going on vacation, camp, and school starting back up I've had a hard time trying to update. This chapter was going to be longer, but I figured I'd update today to give some of you what you wanted. Don't worry, there are still a few chapters left? What do YOU think is going to happen, leave your guesses below!
Now as for my new fanfics, I am not going to be writing them, instead I am going to start working on my original story, Deafening Silence. I will post the book trailer for it soon! :)
I will still be writing a sequel to this fanfic, however I need a break from it after i finish. I will probably start writing the fanfic in late December and finish up this one later this month! Hope you all enjoyed!
