CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN: Still Under The Same Big Blue Sky(pe)

Stephen Ludwig Goldburgen's P.O.V.

My first view of my home back in Hamburg was a vast thick carpet of shit. I can't believe I was back here. It was late afternoon when we arrived. I stood there in front of the house and realized that it was exactly how I left it - huge front yard with unmaintained grass mainly because no one was left here while Jonathan was gone, two storey house with a white exterior, a German flag hanging on one side, and a dog house at the very corner which was very weird because we never owned a dog in a long time.

"Welcome home baby bro," Luke told me as he patted me on my back.

"Not home," I corrected him. I pocketed both my hands to keep them warm. I suddenly missed the warm weather back in California.

I followed Jonathan as I stepped in the house. It was eerily quiet inside and the whole house just screamed loneliness.  After the thirty-four hour flight, all I wanted to do was to dive in my bed. I quickly made my way upstairs and found my room untouched.

My bed, just near the window, still had the dark blue sheets. DVDs were still scattered on my study table and some of the books were still stacked on one corner. It was like I never left.

I lied on my bed and stared blankly at the ceiling. I wanted to drift off to sleep but I had to send an email to Addy first. I quickly pulled out my phone and wrote to her.

Me: Touchdown Hamburg. Hate this place. It's cold as hell.

I wasn't expecting a reply from her since it's probably nine in the morning back home which meant she was in school.

With nothing else to do, I decided to drift off to sleep.

I had no idea what time it was, but as soon as I felt my phone vibrate beside me, I quickly opened my eyes to reach for it.

It was an email from Addy.

How can hell be cold?

- Addy x

I managed a smile as I stared at the screen. It was three fifteen in the morning but I didn't care. I needed to talk to her.

Are you on Skype now? Please say yes.

-Stephen

Well it's your lucky day, Mr. Goldburgen. I just logged in.

- Addy x

I quickly pulled out my laptop and went on my Skype. Soon enough, I could see Adorkabelle on my list. She decided that she would keep that name as long as I'd be....

Goldbuger: Hey

Adorkabelle: You're alive!

Goldbuger: Miss me? Wait don't answer. I already know it's a yes.

Adorkabelle: *rolls eyes* Oh please, it has only been 44 hours, 20 minutes and 38 seconds since you left. I don't miss you that much yet.

Goldburger:  Right....

I pressed the video call button and waited for her to answer. A few seconds later, her face appeared on the screen. I couldn't help but curve out a smile the moment I saw her sitting on her bed. She wasn't fancied up or anything. Her long hair was tied to the back and wore a huge night shirt.
