CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT: Retelling The Old Lie

I have never been excited to go to school my whole life. Knowing that someone was waiting for me there, I couldn't help but smile at the thought that I would be seeing him today.

As I was getting my stuff out the locker, someone suddenly covered my eyes from behind.

"Well good morning to you too," I greeted, thinking it was Stephen behind me. I expected a reply, but all I got was silence.

"Stephen?" I called out again, wanting him to take off his hands that were annoyingly covering my eyes. "You can let go now before I decide to chop your hands off."

But still no reply. I tried shaking him off, but it was no use.

"Okay Stephen, you win, you can let go now," I finally said. And with that, he took his hands off. I had to blink a few times before my vision went back to normal. I turned around, hoping to see Stephen, but instead, it was Cameron.

"Let go, Stephen," Cameron mimicked as he let out a chuckle.

I gave him my annoyed look and punched his shoulder as hard as I could.

"Ow," Cameron complained as he rub it off.

"Not funny," I told him.

"Of course it is," he said with a huge grin. "Aww, my cold heartless best friend is in love!"

"Look who's talking,  Mr. I-made-out-with-Sam-on-the-school-hallway," I reminded him.

"You saw that?" He asked, clearly surprised.

"Yes, and I didn't want to see it again," I teased.

Cameron gave off a smile. "So how are things with Stephen?"

"Great, until his grandfather shows up and ruins everything," I answered.

"Doesn't really surprise me," Cameron remarked. "I just hope he doesn't get in the way."

"Oh, I think he already is."

"May cupid be ever in your favor," he remarked.

All of a sudden, Sam crept behind Cameron's back and greeted him.

"Hey," she said. Cameron turned around and gave her a sweet smile. He quickly planted a quick kiss on her lips which made Sam grin.

"I'm gonna throw up," I told them.

"Good morning to you too, Addy," Sam greeted giddily.

"I'll leave the both of you alone now." I finally decided and gave Sam a hug before I walked away. Seeing the both of them together honestly made me happy. For once, Sam wasn't off stressing herself over after school activities and Cameron wasn't randomly looking around for girls.

I definitely ship the both of them.

Wandering around the hallway, my eyes suddenly landed on someone. I bit my lip as I tried controlling my smile. Taking a deep breath, I finally decided to approach him.

"Hey," I greeted him but he it looked like he didn't hear me since he didn't bother turning around.

"Stephen?" I called out again. He turned to face me.

"Oh, hey Addy," he replied dryly.

"Something wrong?" I asked, noticing he wasn't his playful self.

"I'm fine." He shrugged.

"Really?" I raised my eyebrow at him. "You don't look fine to me."

"I said I'm fine," he repeated.
