CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE: Hide And Seek Champion

AdorabelleMorra's P.O.V.

I fluttered my eyes, expecting to wake up in Stephen's arms. But instead, all I could feel was my hand against a small pillow. I lazily sat up and ran my hand across my hair.

"Well hello there, Juliet," a very familiar voice greeted. I turned my attention to my right only to realize it was Cameron eating popcorn while watching a movie.

"Ron, where's-"

"Your Romeo?" Cameron winked at me.

I grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at his face.

"Ow," he complained. "That was not the reply I was expecting."

"Where's Stephen?" I asked, trying my best not to show that I actually felt betrayed.

"He wouldn't tell me," he mumbled while chewing on his popcorn. "But he called me to keep you company, so here I am."

I furrowed my eyebrows at him, still wondering why Stephen left without me and decided to leave me with this idiot.

"So..." Cameron spoke. "It's kind of dark here, isn't it? And I heard Luke jammed the air-conditioning. And you guys were alone..."

"We didn't do anything!" I quickly told him.

"I didn't say you were doing anything." He raised an eyebrow at me. "Unless..."

"Cameron!" I warned him.

"Addy, you could have at least tried to sound less guilty," he pointed out. "So what did you do?"

"Nothing!" I answered. "I swear."

"C'mon, I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything."

"Ron!"

"Fine." He sighed. "I'll just pretend nothing happened, even though it was highly probable that something did. But hey, I'm your best friend. I'll just act like nothing happened."

"Ron?"

"Yeah?"

"Shut up."

Cameron shrugged as he continued watching the movie. With nothing else to do, I stood up and decided to leave.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" Cameron asked.

"Anywhere but here," I answered and quickly climbed up the stairs.

"Hey wait!" Cameron called out. "You shouldn't-"

Before he could finish, I opened the door and suddenly had a mini heart attack. There was an old man standing right in front of me, with curiosity written in his grey eyes. He stood there straightly, with his hands placed on his back.

"Hi," I managed to say.

"You must be Adorabelle," he stated with a thick accent.

"Uh, yeah," I answered. Just by looking at him made me want to stand up straight and maybe give him a salute. Authority was written all over him. He couldn't be...

"Jonathan," he introduced himself. "It's good to finally meet you, Adorabelle. I've heard so much about you."

I gulped, totally unsure of what to do next. I really don't know what to expect out of him, but I already had a bad feeling.

As if on cue, Cameron quickly stood up and came to join us.

"I'll take her home now," he told Jonathan as he grabbed my wrist.
