*Shawn and you are both 14*

*Shawn's POV*

"When I'm away, I will remember how you kissed me. Under the lamppost back on Sixth street. Hearing you whisper through the phone, 'Wait for me to come home.'" Y/n and I sang together, me strumming my guitar.

We had been friends for years and I had a huge crush on her. She brushed a piece of hair out of her face and noticed me staring.

I had to tell her. I couldn't wait any longer. "Y/n?" I started, "I need to tell you something."

"Oh no, the most dreaded thing to hear," she smiled beautifully, "What is it?"

I took a deep breath, " I know this might not be the right time, but I need to tell you that I like you and I've had a crush on you for years. You're beautiful and you have a great personality, but you probably don't feel the same." I said all of it really quickly and then stared at the floor.

After a couple of seconds, I looked up at her face.

Her eyes were wide and she was blushing. "Hey, Shawn, it's okay," she said, lifting my chin up, "I've always had a crush on you too, but I never told you because I didn't want it to ruin our friendship."

I was really shocked, "Really?"

"Yes, really," a smile played on her lips and she grabbed my hand.

"Can I...can I kiss you?" I stuttered nervously.

Y/n giggled, "Yes Shawn."

I quickly put my guitar down and stood up. I attached my lips to hers and we moved slowly. We soon stopped and I knew I loved her, really loved her.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I blurted, looking in her eyes.

Y/n grinned, "I think we're past that, but yes."

*4 months later*

"But you can't move away!" I cried, "You just can't!" I looked at Y/n's tear streaked face and all I wanted was to make her tears go away.

"Shawn," she sniffed, "I don't have a choice. You know neither one of us is old enough to live on our own and my family is moving across the country. I have to leave with them, I'm sorry."

I was crushed. Sure, we hadn't been dating for that long, but we had known each other since we were little.

I sighed, "When do you leave?"

She flinched, "Today..."

I couldn't control myself and I quickly threw my arms around her. Tears started to pour from my eyes, "Why didn't you tell me sooner, Y/n?"

"I didn't want you to be upset. I wanted to enjoy my last days with you," her tears wet my shoulder, "The moving truck is almost filled. I came to say goodbye to you."
