exercise: Look around you. Find five things you can see, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one thing you can taste. Based on these sensory descriptions, make a story involving the 15 things you either tasted, smelt, touched, saw, or heard.

For example:

I see: fan, turquoise sweater, mirror, phone, and canvas.

I can touch: bed sheet, hair, skin, and towel.

I hear: Radio, vent, and clicking of keyboard.

I smell: body wash and lotion.

I taste: cool mint toothpaste

For simplicity sake, I'll only use taste and touch.

Veronica pushed dark tendrils of hair from her face and behind her ears, letting the wet, silky strands air dry. A cool breeze tickled her spine. Whenever her bathroom lights were on, the fan was too. Nice when it is summer, but terrible during the winter. She wrapped a towel around her damp, shivering body. Then, she slid open a drawer and plucked out her toothbrush and toothpaste. She squeezed a pea-size glob of toothpaste onto her toothbrush, then scrubbed the bristles back and forth in her mouth. She brushed her tongue and almost gagged when she pushed her brush too far. She ran her tongue across her teeth, tasting the cool mint toothpaste. After rinsing her mouth with cool water, she peered at her reflection in the steamy mirror. Did her shoulder always have that heart-shaped birthmark? She straightened her back and smiled. Satisfied with her appearance, she went to her room, slipped on her pyjamas and plopped onto her bed, the bedsheets wrinkling with the action.

Being a secret spy meant doing a lot of things, but her beauty routine was always the same.
